Recent views: A Field in England (pretentious, abstract shite). Ma / Greta: 2 films about lonely women who become obsessive stalkers. Both pretty good. The Ritual: British cross between Blair Witch and Wicker Man. Not bad, nothing I haven't seen before. Mindhorn: actor from an 80s cop show has to pretend he's a cop in the present day. Funny in bits. Yesterday: the one where The Beatles never existed. Better than I thought. Training Day: Denzil Washington as a corrupt cop. Very good. Training Day with capital D is amazing. This is one of my favourite ever clips from a movie.

Spent the afternoon with Jason and the Argonauts Perfect! Not seen in years. Isn't Patrick Troughton the blind fella in it? Just watching a film called Kingsman....about to hit the off button. Pretty naff

Eye in the sky, it gives an idea of the hoops people jump through to eradicate evil and the collateral damage associated with it.

'Knives Out' last night. Once you get past Daniel Craigs daft accent, it's a really enjoyable whoddunnit in a style of film that doesn't get made very often these days.
Loved it.8/10
£2.99 on Amazon Prime.

First time you see it you're wondering how the hell he'll get out of it Den of thieves is a pretty decent film in a similar dirty cop vein. Try’s be a urban Heat and does a pretty good job of it. Street kings is another one, also enjoyed two Netflix originals Cargo and Message from the King.

You should all do yourselves a favour and relax into 'Collateral' tonight. A very cool movie.
5 reasons it's cool; Jamie Foxx, the soundtrack, Tom Cruise (yes he's annoyingly good in this. Get over it), the moral viewpoint (no goodies are dying right??) and it's almost exclusively shot at night.
Watch after dark with a stiff drink on the rocks. Moody.

Is that the one where he's a taxi driver? Isn't bad as far as Tom Cruise films go, usually utter rubbish. Never seen Top Gun and no intention of to be honest Watched a French one called 'Hold your breath' this morning. Was ok. 6/10

Never seen it Advert for USAF How do you know it's an advert for USAF if you've never seen it?? I'm aware of enough it's content. Seen to recall suggestions it may have been part funded by them. Basic propaganda come recruitment film. You wouldn't,well I wouldn't,watch a pro Russian military film I've absolutely no idea why some British people get s hard on for the US military especially given the appalling number of friendly fire incidents which exemplifies exactly how much of a shit they give for ours

The Yanks have done a great job in carrying on the tradition though.

I worked with a lot of ex RAF lads in my last job, every year they had (may still do) a firing/bombing competition near Las Vegas (my mate went half a dozen times, 6 weeks at a time, lucky twat ) and every year the Yanks were handed their arses, it was the same whenever we did exercises at sea with them. Their facilities tho, wherever they go, are incredible compared to ours.

I find that BBC etc catch up channels are good. Loads of serials that I haven’t seen before, plus BBC has lots of quite good movies.

Top Gun on in the background as the other half is watching. Up there with Tom Cruise's worst films. Fucking rubbish. Never seen it Advert for USAF Great film, it’s a navy film. If memory is correct the usaf distanced itself from the film. Recruitment for naval aviators rose by 500% on its release, that despite the challenger disaster happening that summer. One of my fave films but if I have one question. How does the uss enterprise (largest carrier in the world at one point ) become disabled in the Indian Ocean m... it’s carrier group and air arm could comfortably out gun any enemy the world over. That bit of bullshit really grates me , a carrier group of 9 in total carrier/destroyer escorts etc plus over 90 aircraft !!!! Got held up by 5 ‘mig 28s’ or Northrop f5’s as they were also known

Perks of being a Wallflower www.imdb.com/title/tt1659337/Decent American coming of age film which touches on some of the darker subjects of growing up which sets it apart from some of the other formulaic films of the same genre. Doesn't deserve an 8/10 but a good watch all the same.

I've started recycling some of my favourites from recent years to pass the boredom.
I've watched 2 this week which are absolutely top drawer, The Martian and The Big Short.
Spotlight is next on my list, another brilliant film.
Beyond that I might start working my way through some of my all time favourites: -
Goodfellas Pulp Fiction Se7en Silence of the Lambs Fight Club American History X Oldboy
