BBC Radio 5 live 6.30pm news and sport looking briefly at the return of the Prem, about mid June, with the Championship following a week later. They had a comment from Sam Vokes, saying how hard it was going to be to get fit again after lockdown. So no surprise there. And this is news? Unfortunately for Sam, takeaways have been allowed to open.

Colin Murray talking about football's return in England on BBC Radio 5 right now with a journalist whose voice I recognise. They were talking about big screens for fans to watch in their cars, and Murray mentioned The Brit' as a great place for that. I can't see that being feasible, as it wouldn't be easy for security to keep on top of it. People would get out of their cars and even gather without cars.

Keep guessing mr doom and gloom. The guy from Astro Zeneca on Marr yesterday was confident that the vaccine would be in production in September and that the UK have ordered 100million doses. Yes it's dependant on successful trials but lets be optimistic for once ffs. The season after next my backside. Everybody's guessing at the moment of course, even the guy from Astra Zeneca. My own guess is that Benjaminbiscuit is likely to be right. Vaccines take a LONG time to invent, test, safety test, manufacture at scale, distribute and use. OK, so every big brain in every pharmaceutical company everywhere is working on this right now. The rewards for whichever company or country comes up with an effective vaccine first will be huge. But its by no means certain that AZ guy is right about production in September. Engineers, scientists and technical people tend to underestimate timescales and "look on the bright side." They have these traits because they need positive thinking as part of the problem solving brains they have that enable them to do their work. Even if we do get lucky and a vaccine is discovered quickly, we are in competition with literally every other country on the planet to buy it. If a UK university gets a workable vaccine first, great. If the Chinese or the US win the race, maybe it will take longer. Who knows. Its also possible that a vaccine will NEVER be discovered. The SARS virus was recognised in 2003.Seventeen years ago. There is still no vaccine. I hope the optimists are right, of course. But they may not be. My guess is that crowds will be back even if no vaccine

One way or another life will have to move on, maybe with an element of risk which is there every time we leave the home, otherwise we'll be in a bubble for a long time!

Outwait it until it becomes so rare in the wild that there's very little risk involved in large gatherings. But that sounds like it will take a while as well.

And this is why I don't get why clubs would have to pay Sky anything back. They could even be really clever and put one on terrestrial, charge more for the adverts because of a bigger audience and offer packages for Sky at every turn.

Why are we still persisting with this ridiculous vanity project?
Get it cancelled and lock it back down.
We're risking lives for the sake of the dollar - nothing more, nothing less.

Because the TV companies will want their cash back meaning redundancies within the clubs .....It’s not that simple mate Tbh only 4 out of the testing is right result

Redundancies are hard to take and live through but a whole load easier than not surviving or burying a loved one. Just one more death from this is one too many.

There’s probably less chance of a footballer transferring it given the testing than a trip to ASDA

Given the seriousness of the decision surely the emphasis has to be on demonstrating it is safe rather than being able to prove it is unsafe. What concerns me in that article is that it states from round four of testing, the number of tests will be increased from 50 to 60. That means either people are at clubs currently untested (unlikely) or that they are increasing the number of people at clubs on a daily basis pro rata, which is increasing the risk of transmission before detection. Oh and RIP to Dean Smith's dad at the Villa. Died from COVID-19 in a care home apparently.
