the worst in the country ? I travel by car approx 1000 miles a week all around the country including all the big cities and in my opinion the driving standards in Stoke are the worst You sit at a roundabout waiting to go straight accross and almost every time someone blocks the roundabout....you try to get their attention to ask "why" ! and they look straight ahead Tailgating is another common thing as is using a mobile 'phone....I would rather drive around London,Manchester or Leeds than Stoke Unfortunately their isn't enough Police patrols to stop all the above Rant over

They’re shit but they’re not a patch on Birmingham.
Birmingham is a fucking free for all, I can’t stand driving around it.
The luftwaffe should have done a better job at levelling that god forsaken shithole.

My experience tells me that driving standards in and around Stoke are pretty good. The same applies to Brum.
Have a try at Coventry ..... unbelievable.

The biggest challenge in Stoke is the give way lines and understanding just whose right of way it is. Stoke seems to work differently than the rest of the country as the give way lines tend to mean you're allowed to pull out and block one lane of the road if you need to get across into the other.
Tailgating is bad as well but I tend to find it's a national problem.

Only have to travel down the road to see examples of bad driving, even worse actually if you walking by a road especially in the morning, women putting make up on, blokes pouring drinks, and of course the ones using mobiles, police would make a fortune standing on any street!!!!

The luftwaffe should have done a better job at levelling that god forsaken shithole. I drove to Birmingham and back on Monday then Liverpool and back yesterday. Both those cities are populated by people who drive like absolute spastics. That said, London driving standards are something else. No wonder they're always killing cyclists and stabbing each other up. Very often in Stoke, you'll be in a queue at lights and then when the lights go green the people at the front of the queue dawdle off as if they're going to live forever, totally stitching up every fucker behind them. I don't know whether it's a lack of consideration or a lack of IQ, like those cunts at the front are maybe so lacking in grey matter that they're incapable of considering the world outside of the 1m radius of their ignorant fucking skulls? I've driven plenty in London and if the person at the front take a second to start moving when the light goes green, they're met with a cacophony of car horns. I've never seen someone go past 5 seconds but I imagine they'd get a machete buried into their skull. To be honest I prefer that attitude to the retarded dawdling attitude of stoke drivers.

I've always said this, if everyone is switched and concentrating, as soon as a traffic light goes from red to green the whole line of traffic should start to move at the same time. What happens in reality though is you only start to move when the the lights go back to red thanks to halfwits who never even realised the lights had changed. Annoys the fuck out of me it really it does.

I have driven around Stafford for many years and there is a definite difference between there and SOT.
In heavy traffic cars will slow down to let vehicles into traffic from side roads etc. It costs so little to chill a little and show others consideration.

Biggest issue for me is drivers dropping passengers off on the roundabout by the incinerator on a match day. . .
I travel down Leek Road every day, having to negotiate Limekiln lights, Joiners Square and the lemmings outside the 6th form. The easiest thing to do is relax and maintain your blood pressure. That journey is worse travelling into Stoke than it is travelling out. Maybe that says something?
My favourite thing is pootling along to Limekiln lights from Stoke, then when the road opens up having some raging cunt tear past at 45 in a 30. They usually end up at the lights a car length in front. It's even better when you pull up directly alongside them. Usually they're female with a baby on board sticker on the rear windscreen.
I saw a taxi driver ignore a police car with its blue lights on trying to cross Joiners Square roundabout yesterday. The rage on the coppers face when they slammed their brakes on to avoid colliding with him was amazing.

My uncle from Liverpool always said Stoke drivers were the worst he’d experienced as a lorry driver. That was in the 1960s and 70s.

My biggest gripe in stoke its the Michelin roundabout heading towards Campbell Road from the incinerator, why do people think you can turn right from the lefthand lane!

Dunno about Stoke, it must be a decade since I drove round there. Try Bradford - Britain's crash-for-cash capital (or at least it was last time I checked). Even without that, the general driving standard there is about that of a chimpanzee on acid.

A few week ago I was in the lane to go from Moorland Road down to Sneyd Green, person is in the right hand lane of the roundabout next to me which indicates to me, they are going either Starbucks or test centre way. She then tries and cuts me up and just switch lanes on me. Fair enough needing to correct yourself but do it the fucking proper way and don't attempt to cut me up. Nightmare fuel at times.

Another thing that pisses me off is people slamming their brakes on as soon as the lights change to amber. Red means stop, amber is a warning they are about to change. If you are right on the lights you carry on. If you are a way off break slowly.

Smallthorne roundabouts are a disgrace. Going from High Lane to Hanley Road, you need to be in the left hand lane over all 3, on the 2nd one you have to drive quite far left to leave space for the cars in the right lane, so it looks like you're going down Ford Green Road (Smallthorne bank) and the cars waiting there pull out on you 9 times out of 10. I've started indicating right while I'm doing it, and people still pull out.
Must be responsible for the most small crashes in the country.

I drive for a local skip hire company and do about 170 miles a day around stoke,Stafford,Crewe the biggest issue I notice is people don’t understand who’s right of way it is on roads for example parked cars on the right if I’m driving in the left hand land people still come at you down the right hand even if there is no room. If there is an obstruction on your side it’s not your right of way! Also I I imagine it happens everywhere but the school run is chaos double parking, parking on corners, double yellows the lot try getting a truck around a narrow side street with cars double parked on corners.

I was driving through the outskirts of Nantwich the other day, cars all parked on a kerb giving traffic little room to get through then some genius woman decided to park on the other side of the road. Was a truck and believe it or not a bus trying to get through but she still got out of her car to go to pick her kid (s) up leaving them stuck, was barely room before she parked. People parking outside take-aways with their blinkers on also an busy roads are a nuisance.
