Born and bred across the road from the Vic. (Fletcher Rd.) Father and Brothers going to the Vic in the 50s and 60s,How could I not have Stoke City running threw me? That's why I don't get these glory hunters, it's not really in their blood, there's no glory hunting going on at Stoke.

Living up the north end of Stafford. Unfortunately the south side of the town is full of dingles so I dodged that bullet. Full of Everton in the 80s South End if my memories are correct

Dad was a big Stokie as was his dad. Dad grew up in Shelton and supported Stoke as a boy in 1930s Matthews first reign. It was natural for me to carry on and first went in 1963 after promotion. Spent next 7 years watching virtually every home game before military service took me away from Potteries. But still went when visiting the old man until his death in 2015. Still big "fan" although rarely get to games because of distance.

Despite what Chesterfield might think I've been a supporter of over 40 years.
Dad took me to my first game back in 76 or 77 V Leicester. Lost 1-0.
Lived In Madeley then Stafford till I was 14 where I went to most games. Since moving around the country ever since tried to catch most away games where I was living (Worst being a 4-0 defeat by Carlisle) with 5+ visits to the Victoria/ Bet 65 /Brit most seasons.
Fave manager - Macari Fave players - Alan Dodd, Mickey Thomas and Ricardo Fuller Best game - 4-4 v Luton Town 84/85 Best goal - Mickey Thomas v Liverpool 1-1

Never lived in Stoke. My dad was from upper tean then he moved to Wakefield. It didn’t take my dad too long to get me to a game and have bin hooked ever since. My 2 grown up boys are stoke mad also (maybe I push them abit 😀). Now trying to get my 8 year old grandson to fully support Stoke other than Man City. God it’s hard work 😆

What made me a stoke fan was the excitement of spending an afternoon with my dad. Standing in the Vic, with a bottle of Newcastle brown wondering why I couldn’t have milk like all the other 4 year olds

Born in Fenton. Every member of my immediate and extended family a Stoke supporter (except my brother, who is one of those strange blokes who doesn’t like football). There was only one team it could be and, back in the late sixties of my formative years, supporting Waddington’s Stoke team wasn’t such a bad thing to get into. I must admit, however, that I have occasionally fantasised about how life would have been if I’d gone-a-glory hunting and decided (i.e. made a conscious, reasoned, decision) to declare my team as Man Utd or, probably, Liverpool, how my football life would have panned out.
Alors, je ne regrette rien.

Born in Stoke, went fairly often between ages of 5 and 9, then family moved to South Wales, so went to local aways and a few home games a season. Weird thing is, if I stayed in Stoke, I don't think I would be as passionate about the club, I think a lot of my passion came about after the play-off semi-final 2002, being around blooturd fans bragging about winning, then doing them in Cardiff (then going to school next day singing about Jimmy and Oulares arse. Being in a foreign land, the heart grows fonder with absence as they say

Game: Oldham away the week that war veteran got attacked and stoke went on mass. That game represents the only time ever ever been ashamed to be a Stoke fan. Nobheads in their hundreds chanting "You're just a town full of P*kis" and "B, B, BNP!" Utterly contemptible and embarrassing to both the inhabitants of the city and the club that represents it.

It's an hereditary condition for me, My Dad would take me to the Beehive Pub in the early 90's, we would walk down the big hill at about 5 past 3 get in the ground late and then I'd be passed to the front so I could sit on top of the bars with the other kids. Never had to look behind me because even if my Dad had gone for one of many pints I was a Stokie and knew someone had my back.

Talking about Derby and fans, (OP) a few years back I heard a really good clip on the radio about Nottingham. A new film version of Robin Hood had been released, I think it was the one with Russell Crowe, and it was reckoned to be well made as regards realism and attention to detail. A pretty authentic representation of the story. They were interviewing a Guy from Nottingham's Tourism department and he was explaining how the film still had the usual features and expected plot lines. As he said, "inside Nottingham City will be the priviliged few, the Lords and Nobles, the wealth, the power and the prestige. And down the road outside the walls will be the peasants, the outcasts and the outlaws. They will all be poor, dirty, downtrodden and miserable, and without hope . (pause) . . . . and THEY will all carry Derby County Season Tickets!
Or words to that effect. I thought it was quite a bold joke to offer on national radio.

I was sat next to a bunch of idiots at that game who weren't even Stoke fans. One guy starting laying into a fella in front of him who told them to watch their racist language who was with his son, no more than 10, I had a lad with me from Dublin who was a tough old bloke and he sparked the fella out clean as the poor Dad was taking a real beating. He'd broken the Dad's glasses and smashed his nose, his lad was in tears. None of the tough guy's mates did anything and never came back after half time. Was a horrible day. Liverpool fan from Dublin never came to a Stoke game again as was stunned

Moss Tours if you know, you know! Dad used to take me when I was a kid. Wasn't until i went to my first match with my mates i truly appreciated what it meant. Couldn't be anything else, and this is what a glory hunter simply doesn't or won't understand. My lads 5th birthday party today, and all 3 of my kids are in Stoke tops. If it's my last day on Earth today, my work is complete. Once you had been on a Moss tour your life was changed forever. The man was and is a legend. Those who know ,know.
