Good to see him regularly starting in the Premier League, largely unappreciated at Stoke but still a better full back than any we have now or any since he left. Still remember that tackle on Hazard, I think he only got away with it as both players were over the touch line.

Letting him go and keeping Johnson was further evidence that Hughes had gone full Colonel Kurtz.

Let’s not rewrite history ffs He got slaughtered on here virtually every time he played It's not re writing history as the vast majority didn't agree with decision to release him instead of Johnson at the time.

He never looked up to it much to be honest. Too dirty for the prem is how it looked. Fair play he's doing well now but he wasn't ever much cop for us.

He was better than the alternatives for all his faults.

Letting him go and keeping Johnson was further evidence that Hughes had gone full Colonel Kurtz. I think that's what most on here thought at the time as it was clear Johnson was finished.

He comes across as a likeable bloke and always gave his all but he was rarely better than mediocre for Stoke. Johnson in his first season was a clear improvement.
A year later Johnson was shot and Bardsley was the same as ever so Hughes made a mistake for sure.

Let’s not rewrite history ffs He got slaughtered on here virtually every time he played I think the initial signing was slaughtered but he actually won a lot of people around to the point where most of us didn’t want him to go. No rewrite going on.

I was worried when we let Bardsley, Whelan and Walters go in the same window. I feel we would've stayed up if we kept two of them, but then again, staying up could've led to more disastrous signings, relegation the next season and an even more difficult route back.
