He looked terrible at first - falling over, poor first touch and unsure of his position, However he grew into the game, looked pacey and a nice bit of skill to setup the goal. At the moment he looks like an impact sub to me - someone to throw on towards the end of a game when we need to breakdown a stubborn defence playing just behind the forwards. Not sure I'd use him as a starter until he gets a bit more positional sense.
Definitely a talent and one for next season - but I can see why Spurs didn't see him as having an immediate future in the Premier League. Good on him to bail early and learn his trade at a lower level rather than see his career out on the reserves wondering what might have been.

Maybe the timing of his injuries just made a loan impossible to arrange during the loan windows.

Some young players just lose it when they go from being England class and then fail to break through at Premier League level. If the lad can readjust his expectations, knuckles down and learns his trade out of the limelight we could end up with a very decent player but his debut suggests he's still got a lot to learn. Fortunately I think in O'Neil he's got a manager that can really help his development.

Wow the lad played 45 minutes, got an assist on his debut and all these oatcake experts have written him off as a central midfielder already.
I think we should save this thread for a year so we can point out the numpties.

I have faith in what MON can do with him over the next year or so. Too many too quick to write him off. He was slightly out of position at first but the management team got him further forward.

The majority are saying he cant replace Allen in the DM position and maybe should be a winger. After a 45 minute debut.

After a 45 minute debut. We are saying that he doesn't look like he can do that now based on the evidence we have. No one is saying it for definite. No one is saying that he will never play there or learn. Indeed the concensus has been that he looked loads better further forward (which he did) and that in time he could nurtured to be a DM. All of which seems sensible to me.

I like the middle ground believe it or not. Usually folk are too far up the clubs arse to get there. Just my opinion of course 😂
