It does read like a thriller, and you feel bad about enjoying it. It’s a book that’s phone book thick and I read it in three days. Same mate. Felt guilty but raced through it. A really good book and if nothing else, it demonstrates the importance of computerised policing. They were agonisingly close to catching that awful cunt on so many occasions Some of the detective work was brilliant - the £5 note enquiry, the Sunderland detective who worked out the Ripper tapes was a hoax pretty quickly. But there was so much garbage, almost always from the top of the police hierarchy.

I read about pedro lopez, the monster of the andes Raped and killed more than 110 women and girls but suspected in the deaths of more than 300 That's the fella, couldn't remember his name. Well done Yeah he was sentanced to a psychiatric hospital, did 4 years then he was determined to be sane and released on a $50 bail, absolutely mental Luis Garavito (the beast) is another one, he murderd 140 boys but again they reckon the numbers could be around 300 The numbers in south America are crazy

The £5 note enquiry and the tyre mark enquiry would've definitely caught the fucker if carried out fully. But a fatal mix of work overload and incompetence ruined it. Such a shame because several of those victims could've been saved.

After a few mentions in the hobbies thread, let's thrash out the best of the worst My favourite is a bit of a cliche, but Ted has to be right up there doesn't he Manipulative till the end. Ted is without doubt the 'best'. A serial killer, rapist, kidnapper and necropile He decapitated some of his victims and kept the heads as trophies, His own defence attorney called him heartless evil

Dennis Nilsen.
Jeffrey Dahmer.
And Brady and Hindley, their mug shots must be two of the most iconic images of the 20th century in this country?
The Moors' murders have embedded themselves into the public consciousness like few other murders have for some reason, imho. The arrogance of the perpetrators, the notorious 'torture' tapes etc. Seemed to prefigure an almost national loss of innocence, and a leap into more brutal times.
*I'm interpreting 'best' to mean most interesting cases and not who displayed the most laudable efficacy for killing.

I can't be arsed reading the full thread beyond the first few posts but "props" to Heyzeus for starting a proper GDB thread.
Dictators definitely don't count.
We're looking at actual murderers who did it more than once.
I like the fact that Jeffrey Dahmer was battered to death with a barbell bar.
I don't like capital punishment but I do enjoy some good old fashioned prison retribution.

Charles Manson
Is technically not a serial killer as he never did any of the crimes himself - a mini-Hitler if you will

You’d do well to see that case overturned. Knitters or not. Thick cunt. Sorry, but that’s how you tender your threads. And let’s face it, you are. Peace and love now. Would god enjoy you defending hitler? It doesn’t add up 😆 You absolutely have to be pissed or well into something Don't go making any trading decisions until you've had a good night's sleep, some paracetamol and a few Capri Suns I hope we keep talking about trading in the wake of the current global melt down, being blamed on the coronavirus. Bitcoin was designed for this. I hope you’ve got more than enough bitcoin. Currently trading at around $9000 each. Not for long. I bet you think it’s thick because you can’t compete with it 😄

Nilsen and Dahmer both kept the bodies/parts for a while didn't they? Dahmer so he could fuck their skulls and Nilsen so he had guests for dinner Was Nilsen the one who convinced the police that one of his victims was just having a big ol' gay row when he escaped? I do recall that he's the one that effectively got caught by blocking his bog I've had some visits from Dynorod over the years, but none that have seen me end up in cuffs

The Yorkshire Ripper was certainly a case that gripped and terrified the nation at the time.
When that bloke rang the police claiming to be him and it was broadcast on TV etc it sent a chill and fear throughout the country.
It was like being in Linda Le Plant drama.

I do recall that he's the one that effectively got caught by blocking his bog I've had some visits from Dynorod over the years, but none that have seen me end up in cuffs Yes Nilsen tried burning his victims remains initially, then sequestering body parts in bin liners under floorboards and in wardrobes until he worked out to better dispose of the evidence.I think when he was rumbled, the police were removing very sizeable globules of coalesced human fat from the drains. Dahmer dissolved his victims in vats of acid, and may have even slept with the body in the immediate aftermath of the killing? Recall he used to like to sleep with his head on the abdomen/chest of his potential victim because being able to hear the inner workings of their anatomy somehow made him feel closer to them, (before unceremoniously murdering and dusmembering the body!) He also kept several skulls as trophies/mementoes in the fridge.
