Coronavirus: US buys up almost entire world supply of COVID-19 drug remdesivir. American officials have bought up all of the remdesivir available for July and 90% of stocks for August and September. This means remdesivir will not be available for use on patients in the UK and Europe until October He continued: "You think about this for a treatment. What about if there is a vaccine? What if a vaccine is restricted to the US only? Sweden have been promised to get a Remdesivir donation from the producers (just a couple of hundred doses?). I'm quite sure, every country have to come up with and produce their own vaccine ... Sweden won't buy anything from China or USA ever again. Oh, it was just a dream ...

@esof another question if you don’t mind;
Have you heard of “antibody dark matter”?
Read an article that suggested that Sweden could potentially have much level of antibodies through the general population that isn’t showing up in general testing

Sky were reporting earlier that Wiltshire was one of the counties facing lockdown after a 300% rise in cases.
They had 1 case last week and 4 this week.
They removed it later along with the Isle of Wight who were apparently facing lockdown after recording one case this week after none last week.

Why did they not act 11 days ago or did they want an epidemic here !! I don't even bother watching the news anymore and have cut the Tory BBC off completely. I can't be arsed to waste my time on our useless government, they do nothing but lie and con people. Everything they do is to serve their own purpose, they are too well educated to not know what they are doing, I don't buy any of the bullshit they come out with. This spike in Leicester is either for them to test run and fine tune local lockdowns before winter season or a distraction from something else. The governments version of the truth is never the truth so I may as well make up my own opinion. They should have acted 11 days ago but they are always late to act and I believe they do it on purpose as it happens all to often.

Coronavirus: US buys up almost entire world supply of COVID-19 drug remdesivir. American officials have bought up all of the remdesivir available for July and 90% of stocks for August and September. This means remdesivir will not be available for use on patients in the UK and Europe until October, Dr Andrew Hill, a senior visiting research fellow at Liverpool University, told Sky News. UK patients took part in the clinical trials that showed that the drug worked, Dr Hill said. "A lot of drugs haven't worked, so I think the people in Britain deserve something in return from the United States," he said. "We have to have equality between countries. We have to have the ability of UK health authorities to access these drugs in return for taking part in these studies and people risking their own health." He continued: "You think about this for a treatment. What about if there is a vaccine? What if a vaccine is restricted to the US only? "This is a taste of things to come and it could get worse," he warned. We have to decide whether we want to be strong with the US, or people with COVID-19 will suffer, recover more slowly and potentially die faster." He said there is a "sacrosanct" ethical agreement called the Declaration of Helsinki, whereby if people take part in a clinical trial in a country, they have to have a mechanism to access that drug after it has been approved. Health Secretary Matt Hancock has described the use of remdesivir on COVID patients as the "biggest step forward in the treatment of coronavirus since the crisis began". NHS bosses had hoped to roll it out to adults and teenagers suffering severe symptoms in UK hospitals, but the US move appears to have put this on hold. news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-us-buys-up-almost-entire-world-supply-of-covid-19-drug-remdesivir-12018430Special relationship,,,

I don't know if it has already been posted but apparently there are scammers about tricking people into purchasing NHS tests. There are likely other methods too so people should stay alert (no pun intended).
I never pay anyone who rings me and always make a direct call myself when paying over the phone which has always served me well. Many of these scammers can be very convincing. I have had a few scammers pretending to be BT and Amazon and others I can't think of, I can understand why people get caught out. I know who I need to ring to pay my bills and I find it's the safest way of not getting stung.
Another thing I do is I checkout the numbers on the internet, most dodgy numbers will show up as dangerous when you do a search on them. Many have reviews too, it's always worth a check if you're unsure who you are talking too. Most people will know all this but still it's surprising how many people fall for these scams.

Pretty much as you were tbh over here m, spikes in certain localities but the national picture remains fairly stable. We’ll what effect if any the 4th of July reopening has. Global picture looks a bit bleaker tbh with some developing countries now getting hit hard. I’ve been out of the loop for a few days if I’m honest, with work picking up and the return of football in my downtime I’ve not read that much Covid science this week. But I have just been reading about an awesome diagnostic technique called RT-LAMP (Reverse Transcription - Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification) that the Crick have been developing as an alternative to PCR. It’s cheaper, faster and easier to carry out because unlike PCR it has fewer steps relating to heat. It’s based on fundamentally the same science but has some really ingenious adaptations. Also has a few more safeguards for contamination which is nice too. If it gets a bit more attention I’ll explain it, but it’s taking me some time to get my head round fully!

I had a call early this year from someone pretending to be from BT. He said they were investigating my complaint to my internet provider about poor service. He showed me on my computer how to look at the internet service and how it was repeatedly dropping out. He said this was my provider's fault, and that they would send someone the next day to fix it, and that I was entitled to compensation. He even gave a name and id number for the person who would visit. I was believing all this, then..... he asked for access to my bank account to pay in the money I was entitled to as compensation for poor service. That was when it tumbled I was being scammed and the conversation ended when I refused him access. He said he would call again next day and never heard from them since.

I had someone try to do that with me, I clicked pretty early and didn't go on my computer, I just said I was about to go out and I couldn't do it right now. I kept them on the phone a little bit whilst I listened to what he had to say. I took a phone number off them then I rang BT who told me it was a scam caller. They basically said if you have a problem with your internet you ring us and that they don't ring you which is what I assumed. I got the number banned but I have still had others try a few times since. You have to be so careful, we have had people pretending to take payments for Amazon prime over the phone too, we also have had emails saying someone has purchased TV's on our account in Wales so they send an email to check we weren't being scammed. The email is the scam. I question everything and always ring directly to make sure, it's the safest way.

One woman who passes the phone to her six year old chatterbox daughter. A retired friend of mine keeps them on the phone as long as he can ,until they lose their temper..Scammer....."put xyzabc.com" into your address bar. " I have not got a bar?" " Please can you go a bit slower, I really appreciate your help.....How are you spelling " dot" in dot cum?"
