Bozza's got it That’s what happens when you openly admit to still shaming people’s hands after your own scientists told you not to..... Christ is that what he's been doing? What a tit. I just hope the sciencey people he's been standing close to in the press conferences are ok.

I see there are other politicians and persons in positions of responsibility across the world with CV. Wonder if they got as much shit as Boris is.
Very quickly descended into the usual again hasn’t it.

Holy shit Dominic Raab is running the show in his absence.
Imagine his first press conference: "I've just been briefed by scientists, and until now I never quite understood that this Coronavirus is contagious and can kill" (looks at Camera 6 all confused)

Radio conversation today with a nurse/doctor stating that they were advised to 'run down' their PPE supplies and/or stop stock replenish as a cost saving exercise. Clearly a radio talk show can attract all sorts of unscrupulous people but it sounded genuine and would be in line with the direction of traffic over the past 8-10 years. I get the feeling that after all of this, the NHS may be getting slightly more funding over the next few years (not before time) and should hopefully put to bed any idea of selling off the NHS and moving us all to a more US styled healthcare system (their system is going to cause so many deaths over the coming weeks). This crisis more than anything else has proved how much we not only need, but also completley rely on public services like the NHS.
It really shouldn't have needed this crisis to cement both of those things in the minds of politicians though.
You'd certainly hope so (though it needs to be accompanied with sensible and thought through re-organisation and reform). A fully functioning and efficient public health is certainly what I'm happy to pay my taxes for. Sadly there's a bit of me that worries that when the bill comes in they may be treated like the Red Army at the end of WW2.

This is certainly the first time in my lifetime, but is there anything that can make waking up tomorrow actually feel like a Saturday? Drink your own body weight in ale tonight then shit in the wardrobe and blame it on the cat when your Mrs starts kicking off tomorrow morning. That's what I'm doing.

Has anything come out as to exactly why the nurses and doctors haven't got exactly what they need? I assumed the finance was there but they just couldn't get enough as there is a global shortage? Radio conversation today with a nurse/doctor stating that they were advised to 'run down' their PPE supplies and/or stop stock replenish as a cost saving exercise. Clearly a radio talk show can attract all sorts of unscrupulous people but it sounded genuine and would be in line with the direction of traffic over the past 8-10 years. I'm sure I read something about the stuff having a lifespan and given the NHS wasn't using what it had they had run down levels as part of the drive to cut costs. Of course that decision looks daft now given the current crisis but 6 months ago we might have had a different view point. Out of the back of this I really hope the NHS gets the funding it needs that said somebody somewhere should be held accountable for the money that gets wasted and that goes for all government departments. Working in and around government IT for 15 years the amount of money I've seen wasted is criminal with people chasing rainbows and changing their minds. I know for a fact that a certain police force wasted money on replacing IT equipment that burnt out because they didn't buy a digital thermometer - twice!

Interesting to see how council's afford this without significant central Government help but another amazing example of what can be done if there is a will
Surely there won't be a day when we feel we are in a good enough state to 'tip' them on to cold pavements and shady doorways again...….will there?

Unless there is a Global reassessment of the way tax is taken from the super-rich, tech companies and tax havens the next 30 years will make the last 10 look like the land of milk and honey. The world cannot pay for this disaster unless hoarded wealth is used to pay a huge contribution. My fear is the opposite will occur and we’ll see more money hoarded behind higher walls - physical and political - and public services will be doomed to wither.

I've been calling for spending reviews for years. The amount of iPhones that are purchased and given to staff with public money is ridiculous. There are many 'smart' alternatives that come at a fraction of the cost. I can believe the police story also and am little surprised by it and there will be 000's of examples. No matter the situation we were always going to be in a position to need more equipment but our starting point is what has caused main concern for this. We have so little and that for me is the issue.

Yep the digital transformation of all paper records so they've now got a half and half scenario.

And it's the one thing I wish they could get a grip on. Defence procurement is awful and they spend so much money for very little. There has to be better ways but within keeping it public and keeping it well funded.

Some sort of independent monitoring team should be put in place, some of the firm's I dealt with thought it was perfectly ok to try and take the piss just because it was public money and everybody else let them.
