If it’s rife in rural areas with loads of space are we to assume tht social distancing doesn’t work? No. We are to assume that a lot of transmission is happening at church, which is one of the primary congregating points for rural communities, and that delta is ridiculously transmissible. 10000 viral particles are needed for flu. 1000 were needed for the original Covid strain. 10 (yes 10!) for delta. This data is hopefully to be published in the Lancet soon. Social distancing is effective, but does it obliterate the spread entirely? No. The results would be far worse without it. Also, rural areas are more likely to be working “blue collar” jobs in places like factories or as service providers for hole repair. Both of which don’t really allow for social distancing. So why isn’t it continuing to decimate India and Africa?

Are we talking about cases and transmission? Sure. Not sure what to tell you mate. Vaccines definitely aren’t the answer. Most of your problems seem to be wild assumptions.

I can only really speak of 2nd hand info I have from friends and their discussion of misrepresentation of the data being sent out. I can give no insight into the continent of Africa.

It has decimated India? For a population their size no it hasn’t, especially given the more virulent Delta variant, it should be cutting swathes through them. I try not to rely on second hand information and yes I know a few people who live there, including work colleagues. So official data is only misrepresented if it doesn’t fit a narrative? It’s also worth questioning why the likes of China and Africa aren’t seeing huge deaths if we were to extrapolate your hypothesis from rural America to these countries (that would share many of the traits that you laid out for rural US)

Honestly, as you have said “wild assumptions”, yet not been specific in anything, or come at me with any evidence to show vaccines aren’t the answer. How can they not be the answer for Covid, but can be for so many other diseases and illnesses? I’ve tried to address this question first with a more personalised message, because I often find that people turn off to facts and figures. When that didn’t work, I sent literature to provide evidence for vaccines reducing transmission, which was just “horse shit” with no explanation. What makes it horse shit? Was the analysis bad? In what way? So what would you like to see to be convinced that vaccines are the answer? If the answer is “nothing”, then that’s a shame, but perhaps you could send me your evidence as to why you feel that way so that I can at least understand it?

Ok triggered. 35,623 new cases in the uk yesterday despite most people apparently being double jabbed. Kids are back so granted, plenty of those will be swabbed orange juice. Of course, how much you believe the tests and the stats is completely upto you. The fact covid deaths are anyone reported to have tested positive within 28 days tells you all you need to know about this entire debacle. Lets see the deaths for anyone testing positive for the common cold within 28 days. Stop watching the news.

So not a surprise then that there’s still plenty of Covid. I don’t watch the news. As mentioned, I have a wife who works in the Covid ICU (note, we don’t have a common cold ICU here) and a close friend who is actively publishing Covid research at the Rockefeller Institute.

It’s well over 80% allegedly coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/vaccinationsYes, you are correct. 82.1% with both doses. That still leaves millions who haven’t been though. And to clarify, the results that were shared earlier showed a large reduction in transmission in vaccinated individuals, not an elimination.

Add those to your stats. I’ve had it twice, possibly three times. Cases are far too high for anyone to start pining for vaccinations.

Will it be another Covid-19 winter?
With several hundreds dead in larger european countries per day and just about one hundred dead in Sweden per day at worst.
Not to mention the poor countries on the globe.

Not to mention the poor countries on the globe. Nah it’ll be a post apocalyptic nuclear winter with no food, fuel, gas or electricity. Covid will be a distant memory as we’re forced to share tree bark.

I think you’ve possibly answered your own question. Also consider: 9000+ excess deaths since July. GPs shut offering token service NHS decimated cancelling ops and essential procedures How anybody can still believe this is about a virus is now beyond comprehension.

The parents consenting to this procedure are equally culpable, there is simply no justification to expose our children to this vaccine Russian roulette.

I've just written to Läkemedelsverket (the Medical Drug Association) to tell them I felt poisoned after the vaccine. I got a reply where they thanked me and it will be reported and printed. Fire (Covid-19) and returning fire (vaccine).

Just proves that policy from the start of this shit show has been fundamentally incorrect. They’ve been swatting a fly with a sledgehammer for the past 18 moths and destroyed everything but the insect.

I see why you'd think that but the logic doesn't work for me because I think that ventilation, immunity, testing etc also matter, it's not just masks. My thought process: masking takes delta's R0 from 6 to between 3 and 4.5. Then if half of us have sterilising immunity (from vaccine/infection) it's 1.5-4.5, then isolation, distancing, handwashing, ventilation etc might take it to 0.75-2.25. Even though masks work, cases can go up or down depending on loads of other factors. I 100% support the scientific method (I posted studies before, more: 1, 2, 3, 4). I can spot some obvious bullshit in research but aren't arrogant enough to think I know better than the experts who've spent a year+ working on this. I can't smell bullshit so I'll believe them that the evidence says masks help. Anyway, that's where my position comes from. I don't like wearing them and would switch if evidence showed they don't work, but my mate made me a new one with baby Yodas on and it keeps getting complimented by attractive women so I might keep that one for a while regardless. So are you saying immunity, ventilation and testing are materially different between the two, if so could you link some evidence please? Now sure which bits I confused you with - I suck at explaining almost everything I think I meant that: 1) sterilising immunity means you can't get the virus and can't spread it, so the real spread rate goes down 2) ventilation whips away the virus and means people are exposed less, so the real spread rate goes down 3) testing changes how many cases you find. It doesn't affect the real spread rate, but can change the numbers we see. So masks + immunity + ventilation all have similar effects on the virus spread, which is different from testing.

Brilliant news if right. It means ths virus is contained for now - keep vaccinating and the Scots should be able to avoid any particularly strict changes. I wonder if any epidemiologists had calculated this as a possibility, it seems sensible to me. When you're very close to R=1 you can flip between spreading and shrinking with pretty small changes in behaviour. I do wonder if the nice weather periods over the last month helped us out.

[snip] Also consider: 9000+ excess deaths since July. GPs shut offering token service NHS decimated cancelling ops and essential procedures How anybody can still believe this is about a virus is now beyond comprehension. Seems obvious it's about a virus to me. My gf's hospital in Arizona has been cancelling loads of services and she's had patients coming in with heart problems are having to wait 24+ hours on a gurney in A&E before admission. Nothing to do with government rules telling them what to do, the Arizona governor doesn't want to stamp out covid and it's a private-run hospital. It's just that there are so many virus patients they don't have enough doctors and nurses.

Not sure why its surprising really at this point. Most people have either had it or are vaccinated and its been allowed to run through the kids (as it should have been) until immunity has built up. Waning immunity is surely the only fear at this point? - There'll be a busy winter with all sorts of other viruses running loose along side Covid but surely its done and dusted come the Spring. Why they feel its necessary to jab children with something which won't halt transmission is beyond me.
