It's nothing new, When I was a kid corona used to be spread by delivery van. We used to buy the lemonade and you got money off your next bottle if you gave back the old one. Eco friendly before the term was even invented. Their Limeade and Cherryade were superb. And the joy of running down the street after the pop van had been, going straight to the pantry and finding Dandelion & Burdock was unrivalled back then. Every now and then though, my dreams were shattered when I found that disgusting filth of a drink American Cream Soda in there. The good old days

I haven't got the first clue what it's ingredients are, but as you say it was superb and comfortably my favourite tipple as a young kid. If it did actually contain dandelions that might explain why I was still pissing the bed until I was 10.

Bird flu, zika etc Another scaremongering story? Anyone heard the various expats on the radio saying the effects of this virus are being understated by the chinese government. Official figures saying around 100 deaths but one example was an expat living many miles away from Wuhan (used a false name to hide his identity) and says 2 people in his STREET have died from it - claiming the real number of deaths is in the thousands or tens of thousands.

Some weird, bright coloured drinks.......

This sticks in my mind because as a naive 14 year old I did some homebrew lager, after filling one of the Alpine bottles with my brew and putting the lid on the bloody thing started to fizz, quite violently. In a state of panic I chucked it on the garden at the side of the house, as it hit the ground the bottle spun round and round on the floor like a Catherine Wheel for a bit and then the bottle top shot off up the street and the bottle itself went in the opposite direction and hit a wall with quite some force, it wasn't even cracked My other, later homebrew efforts weren't much more successful to be fair

So looks like the Expat Brits from Wuhan are going into isloation on the Wirral, to be honest if that was the choice facing me I'd be 50:50 on staying and risking catching the virus rather than going to Merseyside

One thing is for sure, if The Chinese are saying 200 deaths so far the figure is more likely to be in 1000's... Well since all transport has been stopped, many cannot even get to hospitals, so are probably suffering and maybe dying without reaching a hospital and will not be added to the statistics. Also, the testing for the virus is 1000 dollars, many cannot afford this. They won't be added to the statistics. And also hospitals have limited testing kits. Many more folk not to be added to the statistics. Add in a commie regime renowned for hiding everything, and a population largely lacking basic hygiene, then you can probably multiply the stats a number of times.

To add insult to injury they even tried to cover up his death! If anyone even remotely believes the official figures coming out of China regarding infection rates and death rates they want their heads looking at. If this thing does go worldwide it will be devastating. If 25% of the world got the virus and 2% of them died you are looking 360 million deaths.

I saw a government tender notice today for researching the virus and planning actions to prevent future situations. I also saw a tender notice from DEFRA delaying one of their tenders to go out to China and review livestock for 3 months.

Discussion on the radio yesterday morning saying there won't be a vaccine available until early next year. They will of course be using anything currently available. They still don't have a vaccine for SARS, they can't give any timeline for a vaccine on this. It's brand new and highly infectious, China has lost control of it, it's going global with no reliable stats. We are going to have to wait for a major outbreak in Europe or the US to get any true figures. Sad as it is, the 2 cruise ships are going to give us the best heads up for what we are going to have to deal with. This isn't going to go away!
