University student have already started to drift untested , no ws6 will they all be tested ,I’m not saying lock them up , I’m saying allow them home I’m a full lockdown unambiguous environment . I guarantee to the weekend of the 5th and 6th and 12 and13 and19 20 will see chaos under the current proposals in top of which impossible to police household mixing for a week is a recipe for a out of control virus Benji, we have to learn to live with this virus it will be with us forever, a vaccine won't eradicate it completely and thousands will continue to die of it every year. If you consider that a full unambiguous lockdown is required in order to live then what are we living for? The young people of this country are baring a huge burden for the older generation, they are extremely unlikely to die from the virus but their education is disrupted (at best), social interaction is banned and the unemployment rate for young adults is far higher than the general population. You now appear to advocate denying them family contact, if this were to happen then don't be surprised to see a rise in teenage suicide. It's not about a roast dinner or a few sherries, it's about family and in the end that's all we have. I understand hence I said of course let them home but into a clear lockdown environment , not A post code lottery of guess what tier and make the rules up to suit ..I understand the education point I’ve four kids under 12 in the direct family but they do adapt more than any other generation , teens and above can be done remotely for 6 months then the real at risk will have been vaccinated , of course it will still be around but not with the risk attached now .

I see Sunak is getting us ready for the inevitable payback which will mean misery for millions for years to come. This will make the banking crisis look like losing a pound coin down the back of the sofa. "It is not just numbers on a chart, it is people's lives and livelihoods, it's their security being impacted. And it is something that we are going to grapple with for a while to come, sadly."Earlier, he told the Sunday Times people would soon see "the scale of the economic shock laid bare" , indicating taxes might have to start rising next year and there could be spending cuts. The ONS says "Government borrowing has reached £214.9bn - £169.1bn more than a year ago. The Office for Budget Responsibility has estimated it could reach £372.2bn by the end of the financial year in March. Perhaps he will surprise us all with the introduction of proper taxation of big multi national companies like Amazon and off shore billionaires, but then again he could just hammer the little guys as usual.

The Sunday Times normally has good insight in to what will happen next and here is what they are saying in today's paper: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Boris Johnson will outline a roadmap tomorrow to bring back 'normal life' by Easter next year. It will leave 'most people' unable to mix with family and friends before then, except for a brief period at Christmas. The prime minister will confirm an end to the national lockdown on December 2 but announce plans for 3 new tiers of local restrictions which will be tougher than those in place in October. The tiers will be suspended for between three and five days over Christmas, to allow families to celebrate, but will be re-imposed between January and March. However an Opinion poll for the Observer published last night found that, asked to choose between a Christmas lockdown and new restrictions in January, 54% of people were in favour of lockdown over Christmas and only 33% preferred January curbs. Tens of millions of people will be told on Thursday that they are in tier 2 or tier 3 and banned from mixing with other households indoors. As well as the tiers becoming tougher more areas will be put in the higher tiers. 'Most people will be in tier 2 or tier 3' a senior government source said. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Enjoy?! This lockdown is all about those 5 days. And the measure after will be harsher. To me it just smacks of Boris not wanting the legacy of being the pm who cancelled Christmas. Yep, Boris could see his head plonked on Ebenezer Scrooge as the man who cancelled Christmas on the red tops couldn't he !

Why could that possibly be?
In the interests of transparancy?

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have made reports saying Sweden gets the lowest possible results in how to have handled the Corona pandelic. 31 member countries have been analyzed.
No wonder Löfvén wants to kick him in the ass.
Sweden have had problems with getting the transmit-number R down below 1. At average it took Europe 34 days. In Sweden it took 58 days.
Sweden is also the worst nation in comparison when it comes to isolation, and also in getting people out from the Intensive Care Units around the country (ICUs). The swedish health care sector is questioned.
Sweden have handled the societal finances better than the average, in sacrificing the weak and vulnerable.
More to come on our news in 2.5 hours.

How are they going to tell the virus to let up a bit over Christmas so that we can all party? And, given its provenance, it’s probably not even a Christian virus anyway so probably won’t give a toss.

It's not about a roast dinner or a few sherries, it's about family and in the end that's all we have. Very well said, I don't mind saying I'm finding it all a nightmare, I think for single people like myself it's a never-ending horror show of night after night of isolation unable to mix with friends, weekends are even worse, going for a walk doesn't cut it neither does social media, you need human contact... I fully expect we will be in tier 3 after a week on Wednesday which unless you're prepared to buy a meal everytime you visit a pub, it's just impossible for you to meet friends and have any kind of change of four walls. Suicides will go right through the roof over the next 3 months, I'll probably survive as I'll employ the mental coping tricks that I've done all my life but it's not easy and it wouldn't take much to push me over the edge like many. If there was just a way to allow people to mix sensibly for say an hour Saturday and on Sunday, it could literally be a lifesaver. Not everybody wants to get blind drunk or pack a place out to the rafters, they just want to see a friendly face, have a quiet drink outside their own home which is becoming more like a prison and have a conversation outside of the workplace. I can work with hundreds of people every day, 5 days a week but I can't sensibly meet one of them for a couple of hours at a weekend. Many people in that boat sadly won't survive

Amen to that. Any scientist claiming they are using social media to "advance" scientific thought is a liar. Social media was designed and is primarily used for self promotion - it was never designed for resolving genuine scientific debate. There are established mechanisms for doing that. "Trust in science - not in scientists".

Yep, Boris could see his head plonked on Ebenezer Scrooge as the man who cancelled Christmas on the red tops couldn't he ! Well let's face it Princess Nut Nuts was never going to stand for not having the parents round to Chequers for Wilfred's first Christmas. Ever resourceful BoJo has done a deal with the virus. It was the easiest deal in the world and it is - appropriately - Oven Ready. We get Christmas and the virus gets all the old folk and asthmatics in January. Which is handy cos he'll need a distraction from the from the Brexit shitshow. So - sing Wham's 'Last Christmas' with gusto this year Granma - because in your case it probably will be.

Spiral , but lockdown will come with it

Agree with Andy Burnham.
A proportionate approach through December and January would be better than tough until Christmas, then 5 days of super spreading, then tough again through January to make up for lost time.
Surely everyone would prefer that?

Debunking Great Reset does not just mean the BBC simply saying it's not true. They must try harder and put more effort in than that. To use their favourite words, they provide a 'baseless' response, wholly 'without evidence'. And for evidence of the deliberate destruction of small businesses, I only have to walk down the street and use my own eyes. Debunk that! Another thing that cannot be debunked is BBC spin of what the reality is. They could quite easily report this, but choose not to. Have you seen this on the news? If not, I have evidence that suggests that BBC news chooses to deliberately frighten people with a particular perspective.
