Powell clearly isnt a winger. He had a few one-on-ones yesterday and tried the same tap and run every time and lost the ball. That kind of move works in a central area because the DM doesnt know which way the ball could go, but out wide it is very easy to read. Not having a go at Powell but hes just not a winger and needs to play centrally. We lose so much with him stuck out wide Really can't understand why he doesn't put Clucas on the wing, he is so much more effective there. Because Clucas is a better sitting midfield player than Cousins. Despite still having a big squad, it’s very, very thin.

We are missing him. Perhaps because Verlinden is also out. Are we missing him? In the 5 games he played prior to injury we gained 9 points scoring 6 goals and conceding 7, three of those games were at home. In the 5 games he's missed through injury we gained 8 points scoring 10 goals and conceding 6, three of those games were away. It will be good to have him available again but I wouldn't agree we've missed him.

Saw him after the game today. He was driving away from the ground and stopped the car to speak to fans and have photos with them. I asked him when he thought he'd be back and he said hopefully next Saturday. For someone who can be such an arse on the pitch he was very softly spoken! 😁

If it isn't broke then don't fix it, he wouldn't be back in the first team if i had the choice.

I just wish he could play football. This is the bit I don't get. He is not the best winger ever but he's far from the worst. He regularly beats his man and puts lots of crosses in - of varying quality sadly - and scores the odd goal. He's going to be close to player of the season.

I just wish he could play football. He wants to play football and wants to play for Stoke City and that’s more than you can say for a lot of the half arsed twats we’ve signed especially those that cost mega money! Maclean is exactly the sort of player we need to get promoted out of this league let alone survive going down to the third division. BM

BM I can accept him as a L1 player, and bottom third in the championship. That's his level and the kind of adversity that he thrives on. The minute we start having ambitions bigger than surviving he's got to out the door though. Although he's probably long retired before that starts to happen.

He's been extremely lucky considering how limited his talent is. His talent is effort. His limits are skills. He's found wanting in many respects; I've never really paid much attention to him before he joined us, but I can see in his 20 months for us that he can't defend, he can't tackle, he has zero positional sense when he strays from the wing, he struggles to find a team mate when he crosses. But he does run non stop and it would appear that even in the 21st century this more than satisfies managers and fans. Running just isn't a football skill... He may have won plenty of Irish caps but would he ever have gotten into an England team? (disregarding of course that that's the very last thing he would ever want to, but we could ask, would he ever have played for Germany, Spain, Italy, Norway, France, Portugal? There probably was a time when he could have gotten into Norway's team, but not now).

I'm curious just how many of our current players would get into the England, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain and even Norway teams??? Danny Baath holding the fort for Italy? Sam Vokes getting on the end of those sublime Ronaldo crosses for Portugal? Tommy Smith natural successor of Joachim Low for Germany and what about Gregory causing mayhem for defences alongside Mbappe for France

He’s been pretty much universally praised by every manager he’s played under. That doesn’t suggest luck to me. It suggests a fella who’s made the very most of the ability he has by demonstrating outstanding commitment.

Must have imagined him beating defenders, putting many excellent crosses in (literally more crosses than any other player in the division, yes some are shit but equally some are excellent), must have imagined him being an absolute menace to the opposition at times. He'd get in Norway's squad for sure, have you seen their side lately? One superstar aside they are really poor. If he just ran about (and nothing else) not one Stoke fan would accept him never mind consider him a key player. At this level he's perfectly decent. We've missed him when he's not played. This absolute refusal to see what's in front of your eyes is pitiful.
