We are missing him.
Perhaps because Verlinden is also out.

We are missing him. Perhaps because Verlinden is also out. we certainly are missing him, he’s got terrific work rate and he brings balance to the side. He’s not the best LW I’ve ever seen and in my opinion not fit to lace Mattys or Arnies boots, but we do miss him. Another 2-3 weeks I think

Tom Ince: "Hah you guys are not gonna see both McClean and Verlinden anytime soon, you guys are just gonna see ME son of Paul Ince."

McClean is the last player we wanted to lose on the run in.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Stoke City can confirm that James McClean is facing several weeks on the sidelines and that Thibaud Verlinden will miss the remainder of the campaign after they both sustained injuries in last night’s defeat by Preston," Stoke said in a statement. "McClean has a medial ligament knee injury, whilst Verlinden – who had to be withdrawn from the action just five minutes after joining the action as a substitute – has an ACL knee ligament injury."
Reading the Irish press they have ruled McClean out of next months Euro qualifiers so I gues we won't see him this side of April.

Why isn't N'goy or Diouf getting a run out in this position while we wait?
We all know the latter has McLean's work rate

What a sorry outfit we've become when people are pinning their hopes on a hopeless footballer.

Why isn't N'goy or Diouf getting a run out in this position while we wait? We all know the latter has McLean's work rate Dioufs done, he's knackered unfortunately and from the little I've seen of N'Goy and the reviews I've seen of his loans its no big surprise he isn't playing.

What a sorry outfit we've become when people are pinning their hopes on a hopeless footballer. He isn't a natural footballer at all and 6M was overpriced. However, in the current system and under the current manager he is priceless because of the balance he brings to the side and the fact he will graft up and down the flank all day long - which is how O'Neill is setting the side up. We have missed him chronically and you have to ask if the manager could have tweaked things a little more in how we are setting up so that we didn't miss him so much? Has shifting Nick Powell out there really worked or has it turned one problem into two?

Which shows what a sorry outfit we've become. No it doesn’t. It confirms that he is a player with a respectable record at this level and the one above, with the kind of onfield attitude we need in a relegation dog fight.

Powell clearly isnt a winger. He had a few one-on-ones yesterday and tried the same tap and run every time and lost the ball.
That kind of move works in a central area because the DM doesnt know which way the ball could go, but out wide it is very easy to read.
Not having a go at Powell but hes just not a winger and needs to play centrally. We lose so much with him stuck out wide

What a sorry outfit we've become when people are pinning their hopes on a hopeless footballer. If we had ten more players as hopeless as McClean in the first team we wouldn't have to pin our hopes on him.

Totally agree that Clucas should slot in on the left for the time being. Go back to 4-2-3-1 and play Allen with Cousins deep with Powell through the middle. Its a bit of no brainer really, but I dont think MON sees it that way
