Is it too early to say that FINALLY the fruits of labour are starting to show with regards to investment in our youth programme?
There was a big song and dance a while ago (which has been well documented on here) about trying to be self sufficient, and investing in youth.
The under 18's have performed exceptionally well this season, the manager has the cojones to play the youngsters, on a more regular basis, so the simple question is:
Are things finally starting to click re; bringing through talent ?
I for one think the future is starting to look a lot rosier....

I get your point but the major youth competition is the FA Youth Cup and our 18's got knocked out by Bradford city, arguably the worst academy set up in the country. Until a mass clear out is complete with the current first team squad, I don't see anything particularly rosy. The only thing giving me any hope whatsoever is the manager himself.

I think the answer is that we have given ourselves options. We have the chance to move forward with more confidence that the youth prospects are available, and expensive incoming signings are not necesarily going to be our first line of action.

We did but shit happens in the cup. The 18s are generally a really good side with some excellent prospects in there and down the levels we have really good sides. From the side that got to the semi we've got Edwards, Souttar, Verlinden and Campbell who are all playing or have played regular league football and Sorensen that should be. And from them down I think it is starting to come good. The youth cup this season was a massive blip yes but that's all it appears to be when you look at the overall picture.
