The rehabilitation of Moritz Bauer starts here...... Itβs the best plan. Collins isnβt a right back and never will be. Brown going forward was good but Villa should have scored a few times on his side and that was before the second where they proper sussed him. But an interesting prospect there if he was coached defensively. But it feels a big job.

If Smith gets injured for a month whoβs gonna play right back? Brown?

If Smith gets injured for a month whoβs gonna play right back? Brown? Maybe and if it worked it would be great because attacking wise against Villa he was really good. Defensively they found him out and as youβd expect he was very suspect but that can be worked on. But itβs how that goes over a run of games isnβt it? Itβs a gamble.

Good move and I wish him well.
Edwards was a liability in his last dozen games in the first team, constantly being caught out in the air at the back post...due mainly to poor positioning.
Since then it appears has he also had a few off field "problems", so, all in all he was never going to be in contention until something fundamentally changed.
Hopefully playing first team football with Fleetwood will enable the lad to get back on track

Think this is a really good move for him tbh and this is probably his level. Good luck Tom π

Pottermus is in front of Bauer Probably but his Villa performance wasnβt something that showed me he was ready to do it full time yet unless a lot of work is going on with him defensively. It was more something that in 12 months time if heβs been coached and learns then it could be good?

Said it last night Edwards under joey barton for a year hopefully will sort him out think there is a decent player in there He's proved he can cut it at the highest level on his day. If he gets to anything like decent form surely he'll tear it up in that div. Bet he gets a fair few assists if they allow him to get forward as well.

I'm happy with the move.
I like to think that FTFC can have a similar impact with him ala Souttar. He got on well there and the fans were consistently raving about him.
To me it speaks volumes about the clubs ability to bring on a loanee. Now I'm not fan of Barton, but you've got to hand it to him, he's doing a fine job there.
I look forward to seeing how he gets on. Good luck Tom.

Smith needs to feel some genuine pressure on his place not the nothingness of pressure from a bloke we've signed as a forward and an an out and out centre half. Clearly lessons are not being learned......again Unless super Moritz Bauer makes a miraculous return? Which tbh Iβm not against. As a back up Championship right back heβs absolutely fine - might as well get some use out of him!

Ironic post of the day. This time last year you were banging on about Smith being an unnecessary signing because he'd block Edwards' progress... However...you are right in that it does leave us light at right back. Jacob Brown is an option as a wing back and Collins has played there but I'm not a fan of CBs playing fullback. Hopefully Smith will remain injury free - he's looked in good nick this season so far. Why is it ironic? Itβs just looking at the bigger picture. Iβd get rid of Smith and keep Edwards every day of the week if it was a choice but that isnβt my point here and making it such is pretty pathetic. Has he? The wing backs have both been an issue with the system. Heβs been perfectly ok donβt get me wrong but doesnβt offer anything close to what we need in this system but thatβs not his fault. Pointing out that we need backup for Smith is ironic because this time last year you were arguing we didn't need backup for Edwards. The fact that Edwards has gone and has been supplanted by Smith is irony squared. Edwards has been rubbish for over a year, Smith has been steady and has looked pretty good so far this season. I agree he's not a natural wing back but he's doing a decent job. You've already admitted you were wrong about needing cover at right back (without actually admitting it) why not go the whole hog and admit you were wrong about Edwards? Because, let's face it, you were. There really is no shame in it,
