Having seen him arrive yesterday just before 2pm he cut a sad figure as he walked from his car to the dressing rooms. It seems to me that O’Neill doesn’t fancy him one bit and the fact that Tymon came onto the bench yesterday ahead of him confirms that for me. Yes he has a long contract with us and hopefully he can find his form again if he gets a chance but at this moment in time he seems a long way off from appearing in the 1st team again, thoughts?

If Smith didn't get dropped for last weeks abortion he's pretty much undroppable forever.

He'll get the chance. Smith is doing pretty well relatively and is a bit more solid defensively. I'd imagine Tom will get more chance when we hopefully get a bit more expansive next season.

Tymon was covering the left back and left midfield positions so had no bearing on Edwards not being in the squad.....plus he's not as good as Smith.

Not much he can do at the moment.
Smith has been a reliable figure since MO’N has come in. He’s definitely starting to grow on me. A steady 7 most weeks.
Shame for Tom but the team comes first.

Tom Edwards needs to work hard and concentrate on playing football, in my opinion there’s too much smoke around Edwards antics for it not to be true. For Edwards to get a look in he needs to curb the nightlife a bit and start working much harder

Congratulations on not seeing last Saturday's game. It wasn’t just Smith that was pathetic last week. Anyway looking at the bigger picture, Tom Edwards is a million miles away from decent Championship full back. Being a local lad, obviously we’re all rooting for him to do well, but from what I’ve seen of his career so far (all of it) I’m not the slightest bit confident he’ll make the grade.

Congratulations on not seeing last Saturday's game. I think Smith has been the better player and O’Neill seems to think so too. Players can have a few bad games, and arguably Edwards has had some part in us conceding numerous goals.

Tom Edwards has NEVER put in a performance as inept as Smith's at QPR last week and that's a fact. Ineptness without consequences.

He's a young lad and no doubt will be fighting for that starting place. I'm sure it'll come for him.

I think he was exciting at first and for good reason, put in some dangerous crosses and isn't slow either. My suspicion is that his attitude isn't quite up to scratch, MON is the first manager since Lambert to truly use the bomb squad.

He might get a chance if we get relegated, because that's where his future lies, in the lower leagues.

Tymon probably got the nod over Edwards due to him being a left sided option given the Maclean injury
I wouldn’t read too much into that

I hope he gets a chance to show his true potential in the future. At the moment he is too big a risk considering our position. Smith isn''t perfect but has, mainly, been steady...as he was yesterday.
Edwards needs to show patience and hard work plus a good attitude before MON will put him back on the pitch

He needed dropping as his performances were below par and he wasn't progressing the way he should have been after a run in the first team, in fact he has regressed during the past couple of years.
I'm not sure if hell ever be up to the required standard but a season long loan next season wouldn't so him any harm and would allow us to bring in some much needed competition to Smith.

Edwards will kick on again. Just going through a poor run of form. Nobody really continually improves.

Amazing to think he played for us in the Premier League as long ago as 2017.
And he signed a contract to 2024 at the end of last year.
No one would part with any money for him so if MON isn't a jot bit interested then I guess he'll be another one wearing out the carpets at Clayton Woods without actually playing for a long while yet.
Must admit if I was a manager in a relegation dog fight I'd be favouring Smith too.
