Last time Stoke were top of the top flight, 45 years ago today following a 0-0 draw with Luton when Geoff Salmons missed a penalty and Alan Hudson had a shot that crossed the line but wasn't given. Happy and heartbreaking memories. That home game against Ipswich sounds like a fierce atmosphere. Sentinel interview with Hudson.

One of the worst years of my life, personal and footy wise.
During our home game v Luton, the tannoy said could my Brother and me go straight home(Fletcher Rd) to fi d out our Mother had suddenly past away.
