At last!
I'm not one to slag off stoke city players - its counterproductive, whether they are playing or we are trying to sell.
However now that he has gone I can finally say - "fuck off you mercenary waste of space"
I remember watching him the week after that Chelsea game (when people were getting excited) and thinking even then, this guy takes on more than he is capable of and loses the ball far too easily.
Yes, he looked good when I was in Cologne, but that was one game, a friendly, against our defence, on a decent day weatherwise. Simply dreadful lack of due diligence by the club to pay millions of the back of that, but nobody taking any responsibility, i wish somebody would hold their hands up occasionally.
Not sure why some on here are mentioning Etebo on this thread - imbula not fit to lace etebos boots.

It's a shame scfc TV doesnt exist so the club can put these overpaid wasters on t.v being asked some straight to the point questions
You wouldn't have got much sense out of Imbula:
"Given said: "He might have done this, done that, but he comes to a different country and doesn't even learn how to say `good morning' to the rest of the team.
"Doesn't want to learn the language, I mean, and doesn't really want to play at Stoke."

I was in Porto last September and our city guide ,Pedro, was telling one of our group where the F.C. Porto stadium was. I said that my club had paid big money to his club for a midfielder who turned out to be a total waste of space. "Ah" said Pedro "our dear friends from Stoke City." He went on to say that the fans had quickly sussed out Imbula's dilettante football, but the manager wanted to hang on to him because he saw something in him the fans had missed. But when Stoke came along with an offer which matched what they'd paid (Marseille?) he couldn't believe his luck and thanks very much and good bye Gianelli. He wasn't really watched 25 times, was he?

Such a waste. His first 6 months he was really good. Bossed the midfield, driving us forward, throw in a view MOM performances. Then from that summer onwards it all went tits up

matchtv.ru/football/matchtvnews_NI1160544_Gendirektor_Sochi_podtverdil_transfer_khavbeka_Stok_SitiGeneral Director of Sochi Dmitry Rubashko has confirmed the transition of Stoke City midfielder Gilbert Imbula. - Sochi really sent a request to the RPL to register Imbula after closing the transfer window and a contract will be signed soon? - Yes, that's right. - This midfielder has become the most expensive purchase in the history of Stoke City , but after several seasons in rental disappointment for the English club. Does this bother you? - The European championships have completely different speeds, for example, Alexander Golovin spoke about this when he arrived at Monaco. If something is not asked in a particular team, there may be various reasons. We hope that in “Sochi”, Imbula will grow together and he will perform at a high level. Are you sure that the African will reanimate a career in your club?
- Why not? He is only 27 years old. He is a man that has performed in Europe for a long time, so he has a highly professional approach to business and there will be no problems with motivation.

Good riddance prick, hope we never see your sulking face ever again. Wouldn’t wish you upon Vale, Wolves or Man Utd but I do make an exception for Arsenal where I’d love to see you at so you can help ruin them too like you did to us

Glad he's gone
Agree he is a f#ckin lazy wanker
But moving forward he's not the problem , scholes is
It's scholes job to have some influence in making sure the money is spent wisely and broadly speaking he hasn't done this
Tyrese Campbell and Jordan Thompson are a couple of examples , where he has overseen small amounts of money being invested , with potential rich rewards on and off the pitch , if the lads come good and little to be lost if they don't
That's fine and financially astute , even if both players fail to be make the grade .
But the problem is scholes paw prints are all over reckless mega money transfers such as berahino imbula and wimmer . We have been told the money to be recouped on berahino's 12 million quid fee is nowt , the 18 million invested in imbula ,er , nowt
And anyone want to have a guess on the return from the 18 million invested in wimmer .I am going to guess , er , nowt
This is a rediculous way to run a football club .
If we are going to be spending 50million quid I would expect Wayne Rooney plus change .Not a pile of worthless sh*te

Always surprises me why Directors of Football or Sporting Directors don't do research on players by reading the club forums. You can learn so much more from the fans than just looking at stats on Transfermarkt. Or even flying to Porto and talking to the fans. A little due diligence in this respect, and everyone would have seen Imbula wasn't going to work out. Berahino was unforgivable. Even a layman fan like me knew he was trouble without doing the research.

Even a layman fan like me knew he was trouble without doing the research. I couldn't stand TP's football but one thing stuck out that he used to do in the old days. He'd always scout a player away from home and go covert amongst the fans, pick someone who he thought looked sensible and ask him/her questions about the player he was watching. I think he used to say that whilst football fans don't know the inner workings of football on a day to day basis, there are no better judge of a player or their character over a long period of time given how long they spend watching them. Very true and one of his better moments IMO.
