A lorry pulled out on me on a country lane and I hit his fuel tank at 25mph+ And bounced off. he did not stop too look before pulling out. Lucky not much injuries. But bike a right off Knocked off my bike in Stoke at slow speed. Loads of close passes by cunts overtaking Mrs knocked off by a speeding tractor on a country lane. I prefer quiet A and B roads to country lanes. Much safer Salop I do entirely sympathise with cyclists though. I've just seen a lorry driving behind a cyclist, only for about 10 yards , so close he could have easily touched him and then overtook, frighteningly close. Unbelievable. I just rode from Drayton to loggerheads up the a53. The amount of cars that overtook in the wrong place and quite close was unreal. There were 4 of us in single file. It took the cars longer to overtake so that was more dangerous. It would have been safer for every road user if we were two abreast. But then drivers will moan. Cyclists cannot win. The odd dick on a bike doesn’t make it right

Glorious weather today. Sunny, warm, but not too warm, and a lovely breeze. So decided to turn right at the Brit. and go towards Stone for a quick 20k.

I purchased a Carrera Kraken, mint condition with loads of extras but decided I won’t use it now so it’s stuck in the garage.

Trying to drop 3st to start with, and it's fucking difficult.

Or cyclists sitting side by side who pay as much road tax as car users, using the road doubling up for THEIR safety, as its easier to overtake 2 up cyclists as it is a car and/or cyclists strung out along a road!

Tbh it's the motorists who sit behind me for miles because they're too scared to overtake I find most irritating. They think I don't know they're there. It's usually impossible to ride very close to the road edge because of drains, potholes, broken glass and hedge clippings. Please just drive past- I can hear you coming.

The thing is pal you are allowed 1.2 mtrs by LAW for your safety and road conditions, so when drivers get irate it's THEIR PROBLEM NOT YOURS,.... 👍

Maybe the cyclists who use the canal towpaths might give the walkers the same consideration that they feel they deserve? I walk the towpath from Stone to Barlaston and back every morning but at weekends you really are taking your life into your hands doing so. It is a regular occurrence to meet a cyclist coming from under one the bridges as though they were at the Olympics or they expect you to leap into the hedge to let them past.

Totally agree Ali, tow paths can be quite dangerous, I only tend to use them around winter time when they are really quiet... Again it's all down to education and my belief is that if I am going to cycle along a tow path then It's me that has to take into consideration the well being of walkers as I am the one using a (possible killing machine) bike which could seriously hurt or even far worse kill an innocent person, the same with car users and cyclists!

Just recently acquired a good road bike much to the dismay if some of my running friends 🤣
Had a calf injury which didn't seem to bother me at all when cycling, so going to keep both in my training going forward as I think I overdid it with the running too much too soon.
Off for 2 weeks now after having the snip, then plan to find a sportive to take part in, and the ramp up the training for a marathon in October.
Any suggestions on a sportive over summer? I have decent fitness, went out for nearly 40 miles on Friday without any bother.

The odd dick on a bike doesn’t make it right I can see points from both sides but for the life of me a group of cyclists having a natter side by side cycling through tight twisting country lanes does my head in, without doubt it’s an accident waiting to happen where I live, more so this time of year with farmers seeing to their fields and animal stock, plus there’s loads of Muller tankers all day every day, but you’ve educated me on the perils of cyclists so I’ll be more patient and understanding from now on 👍

There was also a lorry that misjudged and the oncoming traffic had to slow down.

Didn't realise until last night that the canals around here have little LED lights embedded into the towpaths.

Drove through Hankelow yesterday morning and spotted a group of cyclists at least 6 abreast having a chin wag but casually shrugged it off, no complaining and carried on with my day.

Is anyone watching the Tour of Britain. Two great finishes the last couple of days. The one on the top of Great Orme was a belter. You could tell it knackered world class cyclists. I remember comments made during the Tour de Yorkshire by experienced UK cyclists saying that the hills of the UK always surprise world class cyclists. There are no 20km 6% grades like you get elsewhere but it is just the relentless nature of uncategorised climbs of 1-2km in length with short sharp grades of 15-20% in places. I am particularly looking forward to today. Carlisle to Gateshead. I did the C2C last year and went up Hartside and through Alton and Allenhead. Bleak but memorable. At the end of each day I used to look at the map for the following day and count how many streams and little rivers we would cross because that was always an indication of how many valleys you had to climb out of.

Talking of steep climbs. At the end of the Great Orme stage it was interesting to see how many pro cyclists struggled as they turned onto the road that took them up the Great Orme. The first part of this ascent is 20% with little lead in. You saw one cyclist in front practically stop dead. Within 5 secs he had dropped back 30 places. I don't know if his legs had completely gone or he found himself in the wrong gear but it was sobering to watch.
