Has to be looked at, again.
Too many teams score with very few shots.

Has to be looked at, again. Too many teams score with very few shots. Because we have an unbalanced, weak as piss defence. None of the goals tonight were Butlands fault in the slightest

Which ones of those two were Butlands fault? Both of them. With a keeper who stays on his line it means the defenders end up retreating Give me Bruce Grobelaar any day. JUST GO FOR THE BALL

Sloppy defending on both goals, you can't leave players free in those positions at a set piece. Not much Jack can do though, two free shots at goal.
Thought Jack was good first half, he did the best punch I've ever seen him do and cleared the box. He wasn't at fault tonight - which is good, especially when you consider where he was at when we played them earlier in the season.

Which ones of those two were Butlands fault? They weren’t glaring mistakes It was a joint effort but the first went through his legs and the second he could have maybe come out and made it more difficult for the scorer. It just looks like there’s no communication between the defence and Jack and it’s all the responsibility of the defenders to clear the ball away. They won’t win every ball which is why we’re conceding so many. Right now the opposition are pretty much scoring from every opportunity. We’re restricting the opposition to chances however we’re conceding a lot of daft goals. I think if he came out for for more crosses chances are he’d draw a lot more fouls too.

JUST GO FOR THE BALL They had a keeper who stayed on his line all night. Most modern keepers stay on their line. They just had two centre halves whom took ownership and won everything that came into their box......

Im not having it. Give me a big strong keeper to control his 6 yard box and no problem.
CONTROL YOUR 6 YARD BOX JACK
We dont need a shot stopper. We just need a big strong keeper to come for the balls

He was fantastic until he botched that corner. On the other one it looked like Batth missed the header.

Anyone noticed that we never win a foul on the keeper at a corner??
Because nobody bothers to mark Butland because the opposition know that he stays on his line.
Sorry but other teams dont concede those goals because they have a keeper that goes to win the ball

On the other one it looked like Batth missed the header. Was he really he cost us two goals tonight, maybe he isn't match fit which isn't his fault I apportion it to whoever decided to sign him we needed players who were in a position to hit the ground running in particular a LB, this is yet another failure of our transfer process.

When does the manager finally swallow his pride and pick the best centre half we have after Shawcross, his heir to the throne, Nathan Collins?
For crying out loud O'Neill, kid or no kid, relegation battle or not he's the best you've got who's fit.

He didnt come off his line because our corners went to the edge of the box. Other teams know that can cross into the 6 yard box because butland doesnt attack the ball. They dont even bother trying to block butland on the line. Its way too easy to score against us from a corner because our keeper just stands motionless, so they can just whip it into the danger area and it's a 50:50 to score

It’s definately worth giving him a go because he’s clearly a good organiser and his size will be very useful at set pieces. I’d play him with Chester who can help him with his experience. Set pieces right now are killing us.

Aside from this it was 2x goals conceded from 2x corners... Again! The same happened against Sheff Weds on Boxing Day and likely other occasions people remember too. Defending corners should be the bread and butter of any training session but yet again we just cant seem to do it.
I'm guessing teams scouting us realise this is our Achilles Heel & sure wait for the opportunity and capitalize on it. That's sure what Preston did to us tonight. They'd hardly threatened our goal all match prior to their first and then they get a corner, score from it and the game changes. It's as if they were simply waiting to get a corner and they knew they'd hurt us. The fact they even brought Gallagher on at a time they won another corner & he went straight over to take it makes me think PNE had sure done their homework on us coz that set piece also ended up as goal to them too!
We really need to sharpen up at corners else this is going to continue to happen.
