We chose Campbell who is 9th and improving and we’re never going to sign hogan permanently given the number of strikers O’Neil already has and the need to move some out . For me that’s perfectly understandable strategy Not saying it isn’t, just backs up my belief Hogan is an good player. I rate Campbell higher. Hogan is a terrible footballer but a good goalscorer which is why playing off a decent big striker (like he does at Blues) works for him & why he bombed at Villa where he player on his todd mostly

He operated as a lone striker during his breakout at Rochdale and his very good year at Brentford. If I was to guess I’d say the serious problems he’s had with his knee have limited him as a complete footballer.

I think we have to trust MON's decision to let Hogan go to Birmingham. His track record, so far, speaks volumes.

Campbell is much better. Without doubt.
Edit. In fact all of our strikers are much better. Without doubt.

Campbell is much better. Without doubt. Edit. In fact all of our strikers are much better. Without doubt. 🧐 Yet he has played half a dozen full games and bagged 6 goals lol Interested to see how many he can finish the season with if he stays fit, my bet is 15+, he will be buzzing for each game having started scoring in a team that uses him right, especially after not getting much football. He wouldn't admit it but he'll be loving knocking goals in for brum as a surplus villa player

Our problem isn't as simple as not having someone who can finish though, we need a striker who can press, contribute to build up play and bring some physicality. You can only play Hogan in a two striker formation, which means that horrible fucking diamond or five at the back otherwise you forgo a midfield basically. I know people have a fondness for 4-4-2 but I do believe modern football tactics are leaving it behind a bit as a primary formation and even if it was more viable MON utilises the central midfield for us too much for him to ever consider it his go-to. Hogan scoring goals is in no way indicative of a failure on our part.

Hogan must have the best goals to games ratio the league and many ( including our resident villa supporter) say he is useless, that was some finish by the way Averaging a goal every 118 minutes. What app is that mate?

Would much rather Tyrese up top. Bear in mind one of them has only just turned 20. Vokes and Gregory bring more to the table than scoring goals.

Averaging a goal every 118 minutes. What app is that mate? I took this off twitter so I'm not sure, sorry. But you can find this on Transfermarkt in a few clicks too.

Take a punt on that Ivan Tony in the summer? He'd certainly be a candidate to step up in the summer but pretty sure P'boro want (&will get) north of £10m for him.
= Now happening. If he keeps scoring tbh I would table a bid in the summer. The Championship is probably his next step up.

I see that Scott Hogan scored for Birmingham last night against Barnsley at Oakwell, apparently his third in three games. If he was regarded as being surplus to our requirements it says a lot for the faith MON has in Vokes and Campbell. I wonder how Gregory might have done if he'd gone to Cardiff. I expect we'll find out soon that Berahino is on a prolific scoring run.

I’d be more than happy to see the slate wiped clean with Benik in the summer though👍🏻

Anybody suggesting that Wigan getting a point last night was a good result for us, really do need to give their head a wobble.
We need the bottom three to lose every game for the rest of the season, accept to draw when they play each other ... it really is that simple.

If you saw it before, then why are you crying "hindsight"?
