Nick Powell has been brilliant of late. Sam Clucas has been great in spells too. Allen has started to find a bit of form since O'Neill came in. Players like Campbell have been a breath of fresh air in spells too. The one constant throughout the season though, even at the start when we were beyond shit. And continuing now that we've found a bit of form. The player that always gives absolutely everything. The one that has chipped in with goals, the odd assist and tracked back and stuck his foot in too. The one who has done it with ridiculous abuse from away fans, and never let his head drop. The one player that epitomises the Stoke City of old. True grit and determination, and resilience in abundance. Step forward one James McClean. Take a bow son.

You're forgetting how many goals and points he cost us in the first third of the season, as he was out of his depth as a defender. Granted it was supremely poor management skills that placed him there, but he still showed serious deficits as a player.

So if Messi played in goal and had a stinker it would be due to his deficiencies as a player would it? James McClean, player of the season, by an absolute mile.

I actually think McClean has been poor for the last 3 consecutive games and getting worse in each game. Player of the season 'hands down' at the moment is undoubtedly Sam Clucas.

Wrong position in a wank team. Not his fault .

There is no standout player to claim that accolade at the moment. McLean, however, does deserve something for his commitment, fair play to him.

I agree, but his crossing today was absolutely wank, I don't think he found a team mate all game. I don't think he looked up once before crossing he just blindly put it in the general direction of the box. I don't want to be too critical after a massive win but Jimmy Mac was without doubt our worst outfield player today.

I think Joe Allen has been Mr Consistent. He is always reliable, sensible, retains possession, and he is the glue that holds us together.

Well I witnessed something today that I honestly didn't think I would witness at Stoke.
I can't quite out a label on what 'it' is but when McClean came over to take a corner in the second half in front of block 25, almost to a man the Boothen end applauded a man that has been the source of one of the biggest controversies (rightly or wrongly) in the football league annually over the past couple of years.
He even had this sheepish smile and a subtle clap and just for a moment it seemed like all the abuse and angst had disappeared and he had a moment of recognition that he had achieved acceptance.
More to my astonishment having been one of the most vociferous voices in condemning his signing for both football and personal reasons I found myself on my feet applauding him almost as if it was Whelan or Lawrence trotting over there.
I cant honestly say I'll ever agree with his beliefs/politics and I definitely think it could have been handled better over all these years, but I feel slightly ashamed that I closed myself off to his beliefs and his right to believe what he wants to. As a result have found myself being won over by his attitude and application to the shirt and I would gladly sit down and have a pint with the man.
So step forward player of the season...
Sam Clucas 😄😉

I think Joe Allen has been Mr Consistent. He is always reliable, sensible, retains possession, and he is the glue that holds us together. Said the same today. A different player under MON and not having to do the job of several other players as well as his own, now that everyone is playing in their favoured position and knows what they should be doing.

It would be hard to call a player of the season now with so many games still to go. No-one has been good enough or consistent enough so far to be considered. They all seem to blow hot and cold. Joe Allen is the nearest, much improved under MON but still makes some poor decisions but always gives 100% effort.

Said all along he would win the fans over, the one thing Stoke fans love is someone who everyone hates and gives his all for the stripes.

Joe’s had a lot of games this season where he’s had a poor half, mainly his passing. But today he was class all day, didn’t put a foot wrong.

The facts are that he showed poor judgement on as number of occasions and it cost us.
