Our local MP, military career, married, kids just woke up one morning and announced to the world he was as gay as ninepence if I'm not mixing my metaphors! Well done I say, it must be quite liberating Leviticus 18:22 "he who protests the loudest..." Heyzeus 18:63

I think any footballer who were to follow suit during their playing days would be setting themselves up for the worst possible life you could have. Especially if an England international. There would be that incessant 'celebratory' series of stories for the first few days in the media. But imagine the trawling for stories, your family members, anyone who's interacted with you, people who've seen you on a night out. The abuse, or potential abuse, from the stands would be an insignificance compared to the utter destruction the media would do to your life. There would be stories waiting for that moment its safe to attack them. A mistake in a tournament for England would almost certainly be it. When the torrent of stories they've been sitting on waiting for the right time came out. I disagree. Loads of stuff trying to stop the chants at the grounds. People getting punished left right and centre. Most people know that racist chants are unacceptable and people are getting caught and punished. Until top footballers start to come out (and there are probably loads) it’s hard to have that discussion. Most normal people don’t give a fuck. Some dicks may start a chant but most won’t. It’s a situation where it has to happen so you can tackle the problem People who 20 years ago who chanted at Le Saux for example would be deeply embarrassed now. Times have changed Isn’t that the point Santy is making though? That it would be an insignificance compared to the media intrusion because of how little chanting there would be yet the papers wouldn’t stop.

Today’s news tomorrow’s recycling. Schofield is about to have his alleged affair with a young runner exposed so he comes out first and it’s all brave. As soon as this story runs for a few days it will be gone. It helps as he is media savvy and can control the papers. Half the time it’s not the sexuality they are interested it’s in red top headlines with scandal. They dont care wether gay or straight. Schofield is controlling the headlines now. Look at Rooney and all these other footballers that get caught out. It’s the scandal of affairs that make the headlines not the sexuality. Does anybody and the press even care that Kevin Spacey is gay. No. But the scandals of exploitation molestation and alleged sexual assaults are the headlines. It would be the same if it were young girls. If people want to have affairs then crack on. None of our business really. The red tops get involved because they sell papers. But the celebrity can’t have it both ways cultivating an image of family values and making a living through work and sponsorship on these values whilst living a different life. That’s fraud. And we there we agree with it or not the papers believe they have a right to tell the story. Seems like you can lie and deceive and manipulate those around you, play away from home and get sympathy and support, just as long as it's with the same sex.
How brave.

It's one of the stock buzz-phrases they throw around like confetti because it looks cool and they've seen someone angry with purple hair use it on Twitter or The Canary. It's usually aimed at folk who have the temerity to have a different opinion to themselves. Quite what it's got to do with where Phil likes to send his soldier off for manoeuvres remains an enigma 😎

Can I posit that it's the same people who make this stuff news that say "It's such a shame that this is even news in this day and age"? Same as with gay footballers. The media are champing at the bit to get hold of a "gay footballer" story so they can print a simpering article about it. If I were a gay nogger player, it wouldn't be homophobic chants from the stands that would put me off coming out, it'd be the mental media circus indulging themselves in a self-congratulatory wankfest. They're so desperate for it that they'd print specials over the whole fucking thing, and as positive as it may be superficially, it would be total exploitation, and would totally undermine all professional achievements that they'd achieved. I know I've moved the argument on to something else, but I don't care, fuck off. that is a great post. could not put that better myself.

How brave. nicely put! nothing brave about it, coming out in 2020 is just at "look at me I'm special" Tom Robinson, that was brave, Oscar Wilde - even braver. By the time Elton john came out it was mainstream, now its just boring.

I’m getting sick of hearing about this cunt sorry about the language but he really irritates me. I’m not homophobic so none of this a agenda against gay people just about schofield personally.
1. He’s getting called a hero, after publicly embarrassing his family he’s a hero. He’s done nothing heroic at all, to me a heroic homosexual would be someone from a Muslim country who despite the chances of getting killed for his/her sexuality still comes out and faces everyone because that is what they want. You have to admire there bravery!
2. He’s going become the face of gay men when many others would similar to point 1 have been through hell because of their sexuality.
3. If gay people want everyone to accept them as ‘normal’ (there is still a lot of people who are homophobic) then don’t have marches, Instagram announcements etc because that isn’t ‘normal’ just be yourself! Go about your life like any other heterosexual by having marches etc they almost create their own divide.

Alt right is the bit of the political spectrum where the majority of your output on this board sits. Nothing wrong with that. Just how it is. The point I was making, as I think you know, was that it's perverse to claim people can "live a lie" etc without being held to account, just as long as they're gay. When in reality lots of people like you ARE making this point across the internet, so he IS being held to account. It's a bit like how this board often has posts about how you can't say anything anymore. The PC brigade. The thought police. All that. Claims which are then almost without exception followed by whatever it was you're allegedly not allowed to say anymore. And just to be clear. This perception that minorities can do whatever they want but straight white males can't, is a very alt right one.
