He was horrific in the 2nd half.
In fact the whole defence was shambolic all through.

Utterly crap. At the best of times, he kills momentum coming forward, and is a liability even when sitting deep as he's easily beat, loses his man far too easily and allows teams to get in behind us as he's so slow to push out - today is at least the 3rd time this season he's cost us as he hasn't pushed out and played the opposition on from a second ball in behind us.
I know young Edwards hasn't convinced this season either, but he's a young lad who has the potential to be a fine servant for this club, offers more coming forward where we need another outlet from wide, and is defensively solid as a right back (looked horribly exposed as a wing-back mind) and hasn't had a run in the side this season, and when he had a run of games last season, he looked brilliant. He also doesn't make the same stupid mistakes that Smith does, even though Smith is apparently an experienced pro. For me, it has to be Edwards till the end of the season.

If Smith plays next week then it will say far more about a MON than either player.

I think its fair to say we have the worst set of full backs in the league.
We need a decent RB and LB in the summer.

No chance. His positioning is beyond abysmal. I’ve seen enough of Edwards to form a very strong opinion that he is nowhere near.

As other state Edwards is a young man who could still evolve as a player. Just because he was exposed earlier this season doesn't mean that he will always be bad. We don't know what work O'Neill and the staff has done to make him a better player, or if nothing has been done. One thing that won't change is his lack of height as a few team took advantage of. At Stoke under Jones it was each man to himself. Nobody was helping him, least of all Ince, but also the right centre half or the right midfielder were too busy minding their own business to think that leaving Edwards exposed was going to hurt themselves too. Well I don't know the answer, I haven't seen training sessions, but the way Smith is doing defensively at the moment you have to say time is working for Edwards.

Went today Smith is a player I cant stand compliments Ince perfectly in that neither of them contribute very much. Cameron now at 35 is better than any of our players in any position he played for us . Pretty much sums us up when we give him away and so end £4m on Smith

Presumably Smith will be playing again tonight - in what will already be his 7th 90 minutes in about three weeks - with another on Sunday to come.
We must be planning to bring someone in ASAP, with a midweek game pretty much every week between now and Christmas, and Pottermus closer to the team than Edwards.
Unless there is a big sale of someone like Campbell, presumably it'll be a free agent like Simpson or Freeman?
