Smith, like Ince, has had some flack, but both were decent yesterday.

Why does someone always have to be at fault for a goal? The lad got his foot there first and it was a good finish. You talk about credibility Says the bloke who refuses to give credit to the player who actually assisted a goal and played well.

He also put a great cross in in the first half that could have led to a goal and caused a hell of a scramble with their keeper. He and Ince look to be finding a good partnership together.

Comceded goals just happen though don't they....unless you're Tom Edwards of course. Fucking pathetic. Smith has started to bed into a fairly settled defence and he's looking fine. He's far more reliable defensively than Edwards and yesterday he made a real impact going forward. What would be pathetic would be dropping Smith and bringing in Edwards for no good reason.

You are making yourself look pathetic. You're a happy clapping idiot. We all have our crosses to bear. The people wilfully looking the other way as he cost us another goal whilst simultaneously continually slating Edwards are of course the real pieces of work here. You completely ignore opinions that don’t suit your Edwards wank fest though.

Why, when a player is not performing and the one in his place is doing much much better, would you still play Edwards?? That is lunacy that will get you relegated. It’s not a fucking agenda against a young lad, it’s common fucking sense.

Still ignore the question because you have zero argument. What question? Boro Fulham Derby Charlton Edward's would have been lynched for such utter wankness. Directly responsible is always difficult. Boro - he played Fletcher onside marginally but really Batth should have dealt with it. Fulham - the guy was offside. So, if he should have been goalside, you could argue that it was Batth's fault for the Boro and his fault for Fulham, for not staying goalside. Or you can make the reverse and say it was his fault for Boro and whoever else it was for not being in line (as well as just a bad decision by the officials). I fail to see how he can be at fault for both, which would seem a bit contrary. Derby - he tracked his man, Ince let the eventual scorer go. Though it did happen down Smith's side. Charlton - he should have been stronger but both Indi and Butland contributed far more. The ball in was good, it was a 50-50 challenge in the 6 yard box, which is much harder for a defender trying to decide how to not put it in the net as well as reach it than an attacking player who just needs to touch it and it will be in. A case can be made that he could, and should, have done better. But establishing blame isn't exactly black and white in any of those listed. Edwards has been targeted during games this season and has been a real weak link. Smith has been in a team that has been one of the form teams of the division at present and has started to go forward with the ball more as well.

The reply from 2 pages ago that you have conveniently ignored. Why would MON or any other manager pick a player that is out of form over a player that has been part of a solid set up and is producing decent performances? You want MON to pick Edwards purely based on the fact that he is a local lad and anyone who says he isn’t good enough AT THE MOMENT is bashing local talent and doesn’t want him to succeed. No, we can just see sense that he isn’t in the same form as Smith at the moment, and to pick him when he’s out of form, in our current predicament, would be fucking stupid. Why are you so adamant to slag Smith off at every opportunity when he is clearly better than Edwards? It’s fucking weird Your making a bit of a dick out of yourself.

Personally I'm more concerned by our lack of a functioning lb.. Smith has been doing fine and Edward's is a decent replacement as far as I'm concerned. It is clear MoN doesnt have an aversion to younger players or academy players.. unlike previous incumbents in the hot seat.

First half I thought they targeted him a bit more than Bruno but didn't get a massive amount of joy. When they went down our left at the end it was poor defending all round. Poor kick from Jack in the build up (who had a decent game kicking otherwise I thought), Bruno running through treacle and Smith didn't have a clue the scorer was right behind him. Batth was too busy wrestling to even try and head it. Poor all round after what had been a fairly dominant delay.
I also thought Smith was a bit negative at times passing back when the opportunity to go forward was available. However, we kept the ball so it's not that bad.
Second half he was much better. Much more solid defensively and they changed their tactics a bit. He was more positive and got forward a few more times, offering an overlap or playing some good football.
He was poor for the goal, he wasn't the only on - solid display otherwise.

Question re. their goal. Was it their player that touched it or was it a Smith own goal? Purrington's goal for sure. It was a fantastic ball in after Bruno got dragged forward leaving a bit of space in behind and it's right in the corridor of uncertainty. I think Smith could do a bit better with it but it's a fine line, even if he does get to it first there's a high chance of it being and own goal or falling to Lyle Taylor just behind.

Their lad took off like a Tesla and had gone compared to Bruno like a steam train trying to gather up momentum to get out of the station. I know he was ‘ill’ before the Derby game but I didn’t realise that he was sick of running.
