Joe Allen. League Cup penalty at Anfield. As luck would have it, it was his final penalty goal that put us out!

when marko arnautovic returned , i think a lot of fans found his goals symbolic
it was sadly very clear , we had not just lost a great player. but lost our way as a club

I'm sure he missed a sitter playing against for Bournemouth but can't remember him scoring, not to say that he didn't. Steino scored for Oxford which virtually relegated us Am sure he dived for the pen but didn't take it. Paul Ware for Stockport but was a friendly I think.

So after waiting god knows how many games for Gayle to score, up steps Scott Hogan to become our 93rd player to have scored both for and against us. Yippee. Other players who could add to the tally this season are Aden Flint, Josh Laurent and, somewhat improbably, Morgan Fox. Other historical suggestions welcome, as ever... 1. William Dickson 2. Wilf Kirkham 3. William Tempest 4. Walter Watkins 5. Harry Oscroft 6. John Cunliffe 7. Roy Vernon 8. Harry Burrows 9. David Herd 10. Mike Bernard 11. Jimmy McIlroy 12. Jimmy Robertson 13. Danny J becomes the 96th player on what I grandly refer to as "our" list, having scored against us for Preston during our wretched start to the 19/20 season under Nath. Doubt he's played many easier games.. . . . . 90. James McClean 91. Tom Ince 92. Steven Fletcher 93. Scott Hogan 94. Dwight Gayle 95. Josh Laurent 96. Daniel Johnson
***now 97, see belowThe only other candidate in our squad this half-season is Enda Stevens, who replaces Morgan Fox as our full-back who's unexpectedly scored against us before. See you again on Sunday when Delap becomes #98.

Tony Kelly scored for us but really struggling to find any confirmation of the Pompey scorer I see that Mick Kennedy wasn't added to this list, there doesn't seem to be any freely available online information on the game in question where he scored against Stoke for Portsmouth. I do have some information from the time though as a family member of mine kept their own written records of Stoke games in the 1980's. Division Two: 20/9/1986 Victoria Ground Stoke City (0) 1 Portsmouth (1) 1 Stoke City: Fox / Dixon, Bould, Berry, Hemming / Ford, Kelly, Parkin, Heath / Bertschin, Shaw. Sub: Callaghan Scorer: Kelly Portsmouth: Knight / Swain, Blake, Gilbert, Hardyman / Tait, Dillon, Kennedy, Hilaire / Quinn, Mariner. Sub O'Callaghan (Quinn) Sent off: Hardyman. Scorer: Kennedy Attendance: 8,440

Had a look yesterday for Pompey’s 86/87 Season Wiki page but it doesn’t exist. Alan Ball would have been their manager and they were promoted that season behind Derby (who had only just been promoted from Div 3). Strangely enough, I can hardly remember many goals from recent seasons but remember Tony Kelly’s free kick and the immediate build up (head tennis in the Stoke box) to Pompey’s goal. Both goals at the Stoke End and a good following from Pompey.

One thing this does highlight is just how good our Wikipedia pages are for every season in our existence.
Some clubs don’t have any and for others it’s really sketchy, ours are proper detailed massively helpful when you’re looking for something…….
