I will never understand it at all, The team represents your local area when stoke do well it feels good for the area, supporting some team from a different part of the country just seems strange its like going in to the Euros saying I am going to support France because they might win. That's because you are from the area and know nothing different, I, and plenty more on here, have nothing to do with the area, doesn't stop me being a supporter 40 years plus. I am going to have a stab in the dark here and say you didn’t follow stoke for the non stop winning. Serious question though what did make you follow Stoke? I mean you have followed Stoke for longer than I have been alive, I am genuinely interested to know how you came to gave Stoke as your team.

So I was driving to the dentist the other morning, with my Stoke City air freshener swinging proudly from my rear-view mirror. And what did I see? A car pull in front of me, with the IDENTICAL air freshener swinging from their rear-view mirror. Now that might not be a big deal where you live, but it is where I live. Just goes to show that there are GLORY HUNTERS all over this world...!!! Never let your missus drive a car faster than yours.

Try going to Kennys sportsbar in Stafford when there is a Man Utd vs Liverpool game on. It's a sight to behold that's for sure. Replica tops galore and not a soul in there has stepped near their respected supported club's grounds.

If i ever have the misfortune to have to speak to one of these Losers i say things like
i wish my dad had been a glory hunter
i wish id had the foresight to pick a team that wins most of the time
whats it like knowing your team will get all the dodgy decisions
what part of liverpool/manchester are you from
dont call me mate, im not your mate, i,ll never be your mate

My older brother is a lifelong Chelsea fan, and when he was 10, he was very excited about the 1972 League cup final, I as an irritating younger brother immediately supported the red and white opposition, and as a budding GK, Gordon Banks became my Hero. Never blinked since, and still go to anything that's my end of the world (kent), south coast or London. Been a very trying road, but one I wouldn't change, even converted a mate 20 odd year ago, so get some company on my jaunts.

One of our members in SW Stokies has more or less exactly the same story as this. He has no connection with SOT either but let’s get one thing straight here, NEITHER OF YOU ARE GLORY HUNTERS. No one that supports Stoke is a glory hunter. People can support a team for whatever reason they like;- Local, where they’re from, where their family is from, like the colour of the shirts, like the name, or just to piss their brother off. Whatever. But if they support a team ONLY for reasons of glamour and glory they are a gloryhunter and if everyone was like them professional football in most towns and cities would disappear. They are therefore parasites to be despised by everyone who supports a club for other reasons than only glamour and glory. BM

Well they are all coming out of the closet now aren't they, the blood clotting, spotty faced, spunk bubble, dirty Y-front wearing, tank top attired, lepers. Everywhere I go it's Jurgen this, Kloppy that, Salah this, TAA that and Kenny Dalglish that as well! and I live on the fcuking south coast for gods sake. Where were you lot during the nineties and the noughts, in-between masturbating furiously to the larger lady lingerie section of your mums, Kays catalogue, oh yeh I know, you were all Man U fans weren't you, all Fergie this, Giggsy that, Eric this and Bobby Charlton this as well! It makes me want to furiously vomit my curry flavoured morning porridge all over the postman's sack when he arrives in the next 10 minutes and boil my balls slowly in the engine oil of a Ford Transit van, 51 reg, that hasn't been serviced since it was nicked by a shire horse fiddling pikey in 2009. So it's perfectly ok for someone who has never lived in Stoke to support Stoke because we were shit hot in the 70's, but if you started supporting Man United, let's say in the same decade, when Man Utd were good but nowhere near the best in the country you are the scourge of football?

How come you're called Guernsey then? Because I moved to Guernsey in 1993 and been working here on contract ever since. I brought a house just outside Vegas 6 years ago and have subsequently build a garage /workshop etc on the acre plot. It's still work in progress. I now travel back and forward from Vegas to Guernsey 4/5 times a year. Earning money in Guernsey and spending it on the house in Vegas. My official home is now the States (but they won't give me a green card (or take the Citizenship test) till I'm living there full time). So in the meantime I pay taxes, property etc in the States (but my income is still taxed by Guernsey). I aim to be living in the US full time in about 3 years once I've finished all the projects I'm working on. Hope that all makes sense GD If it's not rude to ask Dave, how come Vegas?

Not for reasons people assume. 1) The obvious ones are its a vibrant and brilliant city with so much going on. I didn't want to live anywhere near the strip or downtown as its crazy mad but wanted to be near enough to drive in, watch shows , grab the car from the Valet and leave (I'm about 50 mins drive from the main Strip) I don't bother with the Gambling. There is no such thing as a poor casino 2) Its a boom bust economy in Nevada. I purchased my 3 bedroom detached house on an acre plot right after the property crash in America. I got it for a fraction of its value as I was a cash buyer and the banks still have to pay the yearly taxes on defaulted properties they have on their books. 3) The weather is Ace 4) Vegas is a central airport hub for the States and the Rest of the world, with many cheap deals so visiting is not a problem nor that expensive 5) There are lots of gated retirement communities around Ls Vegas. Henderson, Summerlin, Bull head City et al. Subsequently there are some really good hospitals in the Vegas area's catering for all the problems that getting old involves ! 6) Income Tax. There isn't any lol Property Tax in Nevada is cheap too compared to other States. 7) I'm a petrol head and have a number of classic american cars (Cadillac's, Lincolns, Plymouths, and Oldsmobiles) I also restore old motorbikes as a hobby. I have a collection of 50+ hence building a large garage and workshop. I've enough to keep me occupied in my retirement. Plus I'm righ on the edge of whats called BLM land so I can go play on my dirt/trial bikes as much as I want ! 8) Pound to the Dollar. Brexit has tried to fuck this up but my pension is probably going to be worth an extra 30% living in the States. The cost of living is much cheaper here too. Hope that answers your question GD

Nearest team to where I was born was West Ham. Moved to the Staffordshire Moorlands in 1977 and always been a Stoke fan since attending my first game in 1978. To me, it's about having an affinity with the area, familiarity with the players (back in the day when they lived amongst us), a sense of us against the world no matter what. My most enjoyable time as a supporter was after the Alan Ball show and the dawn of the Macari era, Tony Kelly nutmegging Grobellar, Steino silencing the Man Utd fans just as they were singing "You're not singing anymore", Wembley 92 and the feud with Stockport. It's not to me, about sitting at home watching a team on television and supporting them just because they're pretty much nailed on to win silverware. It's about going to Hartlepool on a cold, wet Wednesday night in February and being chuffed at gaining a point for a 0-0 draw.
I have lived in South Wales for the past 20 years. The number of Liverpool fans is staggering. The most usual excuse you get is that Ian Rush used to play for Wales so that's why I supported Liverpool. That's an excuse that is wearing a bit thin now. Also, you can put money on it, the more fervent the Liverpool fan, the more hatred they have for England as a nation and asking them why Liverpool then? can almost cause them to spontaneously self-combust.
One of the reasons you get glory hunters is because they misguidedly think that by affiliating themselves with a successful club, then they can bask in the reflected glory. You'll likely hear them referring to the team they support as "we" as if them buying a replica shirt five years ago and sitting in a pub 200 miles away has somehow contributed to the success. I like to ask glory hunters if they were bullied at school, have a tiny cock, have low self-esteem or a combination of the three. Regardless of any denial, I tell them that they have at least one of them as there is no other reason to be supporting a team they have no affiliation with. The bellends.
