His record shows heβs a way better finisher that Gregory. Diouf is a proven top flight striker. Gregory was at his best in League One and has done ok in the Champo. Diouf was a proven top flight striker, he's barely played football in two years. He scored 11 in his first season with us, then returned what: 5,1 and 6 goals in the subsequent seasons in the prem? I really will always have a soft spot for Diouf, his workrate, his aerial ability, but a prolific goalscorer he has never really been. Playing at least half of that time at right back π

Stop slagging Diouf, he's the best right back in the squad π

If Ronaldo was the best rb at the club, would you put him there? The fact that 4 successive managers have decided to not use him as a striker, or has not bothered with him at all is perhaps a bit telling. Like Gregory, he misses more sitters than he scores.

Never sure of football insider but, nevertheless, " ... go - for - it Neil .... "Epsecially if you really believe this:
"Harris sees Gregory as someone who can fire the goals to boost their promotion bid in the second half of the campaign."
And, tbf, it may click for him there in a way that it hasn't here.

There is no way this will happen on match day.

Loaning him out would be the work of utter fucking morons.
Stand by!

True but better that than sat on the bench (he will be) on his widely acknowledged high-end wages?

Interesting development on match day? Probably nothing in it unless a striker coming inbound and we use Ngoy if needed tonight?

True but better that than sat on the bench (he will be) on his widely acknowledged high-end wages? I get that part but if MON is willing to let him go he obviously doesn't fancy him, so why not try and sell to make way for a player he does fancy.

You can't sell if no one wants to buy. You should have learnt that by now with the shenanigans over Imbula, Wimmer etc

Obviously a sale would be top of the wishlist but I'm saying better a loan (& wages covered or contributed to) than a high earner sat on the bench getting grumpy.
Plus he goes there and does well again under a boss he knows well then we have a willing buyer and his fee suddenly looks healthier than it does now as a partial flop.

If we loan him out without bringing someone else in we've had a bit of a shocker imo. Vokes and an injured Campbell as pretty much our only options isn't exactly inspiring!

He moved to us partly to be nearer Sheffield. A permanent move to Cardiff wouldn't tick that box for him.

Bayern reassures us all that MBD is far and away our best striker.
So unless we sell him today (highly unlikely), we're sorted.

Presumably that means Volks starts tonight with Diouf as back up or wold card the other way round or Powell up top Ince at 10 Ngoy on the right .

If we let him leave without bringing in a replacement like every other club seems to do then it would be utter madness.
If its a loan then you can bet your life we wouldnt stick in a clause stating he couldnt play against us at the end of February as well.

No way unless something has already been agreed. He's pretty much plan B ahead of Diouf.

The Football Insider story does seem to indicate we're open to it. It'd probably be another Β£500k saved.
Suppose we would have Vokes, Campbell, and Diouf for the one slot.
