(Apologies, i haven't seen this if it has previously been mentioned) Personally, my initial thoughts ... wow! I'm jealous www.zaha-hadid.com/architecture/forest-green-rovers-eco-park-stadium/Once people get their head around the 'all wood' aspect, i think it'll blow everyone away. It looks amazing, and has had some real thought go into it. It also blends delightfully into its immediate surroundings. When I see this, and then look at ours, there is a palpable sense of disappointment. I know we had no money when it was built and times were different, but we've had loads of time to really improve it (and the surroundings) since being in the prem, and taking that money. Ours still looks so cheap and nasty, from toilets to food, to concourses etc.

Do you think our ground will change or do you think if we went back up to the premier league again we would move to a new stadium?

Do you think if our ground was built today, it would look like it does? Lack of off pitch ambition, drive and creativity ... sadly i'd say we would have something on a par with it

The whole sustainable aspect of it it makes me laugh. It’s out of town, nowhere near a train station.

Do you think our ground will change or do you think if we went back up to the premier league again we would move to a new stadium? Please tell me you aren't being serious? Whatever its problems (and there several) no owner is going to build a new stadium when the current one is big enough (and can easily be expanded by another 5K or 10K) and has only been around for 25 years or so. We get crowds of 28 or 29 K regularly when we are in the Prem - those crowds would not be bigger just because we built a smarter new stadium.

Surely making out that nothing has been done to our ground since being in the Prem is re-wrighting history, somewhat?

Surely making out that nothing has been done to our ground since being in the Prem is re-wrighting history, somewhat? an overdue corner extension has improved it a little. The 'media' bit by the main stand and boothen should have been done over the corner between main and away, kept the mess in one place, and then the possibility to expand another corner. It's all just so short sighted, no real long term vision and value. If go to all the other grounds and you see how poor ours is. We've only just got card machines! it hasn't stood the test of time, the food and drinks places are basic at best. Just a severe lack of creative vision. We could have so much more going on, ie more and more varied food places inside and out, more staff, you could somehow make the place feel less cold than it already does etc.. anyway, i know i made the point of how depressing ours was, i should have more implied, that i really like the look of Forest Greens.

Maybe at some point we can attract some big Sports event to the city and have a new Stadium and Park created to accomodate it, rather in the manner of when we had the National Garden Festival at Shelton, and that drove regeneration. Then when the tournament is over the Club could take over the facilities and get a super new Ground, paid for by the Tax Payer. It worked for West Ham.

But London and Manchester are rather different in terms of attractiveness for big events than SOT. Also I can't see a financial horror show, like The Olympic Stadium rebuild for West Ham, ever being repeated. Well, Not unless Boris Johnson becomes Mayor of SOT.

Maybe Stoke could be designated as an Enterprise Zone and perhaps become part of the "Powerhouse of the North" and a major new Sports and Leisure project could become part of it. That is as long as we are in the North, and not in the Midlands.

The whole sustainable aspect of it it makes me laugh. It’s out of town, nowhere near a train station. Have you been to Forest Green (or Nailsworth) the current site)? It would be stretching anyone's imagination to call it a town? It is far more green to be situated by the junction of the M5 motorway and major roads, than the previous ground for which virtually everyone had to drive through several small villages and the train station was 5 miles away in Stroud. Also as part of this deal the club are going to subsidise bus travel for supporters from neighbouring villages and the train station. It's also part of bigger project that will create 4000 jobs. I have relatives in that area, everyone I know there is enthusiastic about the project. The Tory council only opposed it initially because Vince was supporting Labour locally.

After the Bradford fire could you make one all wood? Strangeley enough I was thinking the same thing. The wood is treated several times over so the flammability (if that's a word) is minimal.

Judging it purely as a football ground I'm not impressed. (obv the eco stuff is cool but I'm not talking about that)
Now Brentford's new ground on the other hand makes me jealous. It actually looks like a football stadium. Not some trashy modern spaceship design. It's a modern stadium that looks like it's actually been designed with old school unique football grounds in mind. Maybe that was deliberate, or maybe a consequence of being in London, but I wish we had a ground that was designed with a nod to old school architecture.
