The tensions in the Middle East of the past couple of weeks and the aversion of many here in the West to military involvement have had me blasting out the protest music I'm not a huge fan of lots of overtly political music but for me there's something about the stuff produced in the sixties/seventies that I find really evocative. You can almost smell the napalm and the patchouli oil... I'll get things rolling, troops

Absolute banger of a tune! You can really hear the rage in Young's voice. Still makes the hairs on my neck stand up! "Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming.... We're finally on our own" - such a great line.

Not quite a "protest song" but none the less an awesome song

Not quite a "protest song" but none the less an awesome song Come on, site discipline. If we don’t stick to script people will be posting Bucksfizz & ABBA before long. Here’s a couple. The first one is slightly contentious as it mentions Dykes & Faries, but I don’t think it’s referencing the Little people over the ditch🧚🏿♂️

James' 'Hey Ma' has to he up there?
Prodigiously hooky chorus combined with some coruscating anti-war sentiments and truisms.
Pertinent given the goings on in the Middle East these past weeks.

Radio stations do not play any new protest songs nowadays. It upsets too many people, its not good for government propaganda during conflicts and it may cause public unrest. Ridiculous but true.
