Eddie Howe is a fan and spoke highly when he signed him before but he did ok, no more there Howe may be a fan but I spoke with some Cherries fans last year on holiday and they said the fans wondered just what Howe had spent millions on, and were adamant Benik had a first touch woefully short of Premiership class and was a waste of money. I would definitely want to offer him another chance here, if he fancies it. I wasn't exactly Moonwalking when we signed him after what I saw of him at Bournemouth but yep, would like to see him get a chance under MON

You never know he might slot straight into our plans. Here's hoping.

"That wouldn't have been a decision I would have endorsed at the time because he can be a really top player in the Championship.
"He is coming back off injury and he had personal tragedy during the season as well, so I am looking forward to getting Benik back and getting the best out him
"I want to get out of him what he was brought here to do and that's to score goals.
"I believe he has that capability."

Pretty clear from O'Neill that.

Thats good to hear from MON.
We potentially have a great strikeforce for next season. Its been years since we have been able to say that.
Just need to focus on improving defence, midfield and wingers really.
LB, CB, DM, Right-winger where improvements are needed.

Being honest I really think Afobe is shit. However O'Neill is a far better judge than me! Be interesting to see how he uses him, wide it down the middle. On his own or in a pair (if playing wing backs)

I think that’s the nub of it they all can play in a two but up front on your own is really tough?

Absolutely this we have shown we can score goals since MONs first game, its stopping them going in at the other end that will determine how high we finish next season.

It's a hell of a long season and you can't be relying on the same players every game. We do score goals under MON as someone has pointed out, not falling into the trap of thinking that Afobe is some great striker but let's see what he can do .

Great man management from MON there.
I think he's the man to get Afobe firing.

Afobe's attitude has never been a problem, he seems a thoroughly decent bloke and I think MON will get the best out of him. He's a bit like Tyrese in that he will run in behind and can finish well, MON got the best out of the former so yeah.

Afobe, Campbell, Gregory and Vokes is fine as a pool of strikers for next season. Definitely think we need to leave that area alone and focus on adding pace and quality out wide to complement them and Powell.

One thing we have to remember is that his record at this level isn't fantastic and 13 is the most he's managed in a season

I agree by and large, but I think Shankland is worth a punt, looks a proper goalscorer and gets lots with his head.

Good luck to him.
Being pessimistic I fear it might be difficult to reach any sort of form for us quickly, given the year he's had.
That being said it's a strong vote of confidence from MON, it's great to see an manager actually welcoming a player back into the fold, and I hope Benik gets every chance to prove himself.

So Tyrese, Gregory, Afobe and Vokes.
The latter will be hard to shift in every since and MON has already made it clear he wants to keep Campbell and Afobe so that leaves us quite top heavy.
Either Tyrese moves to the right wing or else perhaps he will keep Gregory and persevere with a 5-2-3 or 5-3-3.
I personally never like five at the back but done well it's very good in all fairness.

Nothing to say he can't do it again but never impressed me. Fingers xed though

Fingers xed though 23 in 48 across two seasons at Wolves is something to cling onto, but overall I agree with you - a bang average record. However, MON seems keen to look at him, and if Afobe is keen to work here with MON then that's half the battle won.

There’s definitely a goal scorer there if MON can get him in a system where he gets chances.....

It’s hard to judge him since then as he was in the Prem for 2 and a half seasons with a lot of competition for starts. The best you can say is that he managed 31 appearances in a good Bournemouth side back in 16-17. Do worry that if you discount that hot streak for MK Dons/Bournemouth his career record looks very average, although he did join us with a 1 in 2 record in this league which shouldn’t be discounted.

Certainly a half decent player though but agree that purple patch bumps his average way up
I guess is irrelevant in a way as it's what he does this coming season that matters. I do remember when we used to break quick he was so slow to get forward which is something that MON will work on no doubt. There are people who push those tartan shopping trolleys in M & S that move quicker

Hanging out hats on a bloke who has only reached double figures once in his career and that was split between league one and the championship on 14/15 and has been pretty shite for us since the day he signed.
This “Afobe is a proven goal scorer” is one of the biggest myths in football.
