I'm backing him as much as anyone on here especially given his form since MON came in, but can also see that his corners are generally atrocious. We should stick 4 players on the front post. His most dangerous play is on the attack when he whips the low ball in with retreating defenders. This obviously doesn't work on corners. Either needs to improve on this, or we find a new corner taker. What? I must be watching different games. He put in same great crosses and corners against Millwall, especially in swingers from the right that nobody got on the end of. And in case you were wondering, I was there. I wasn't wondering, no. But, he generally does not deliver good quality corners.

You do realise that players move don’t you? In the second that it takes for the ball to travel from the corner flag to the goal? He put the ball pretty much exactly where any decent attacking header of the ball would want to attack it. He failed to reach a Stoke player like most corners and crosses he sends in. It’s not Mark Stein, Wayne Biggins, Peter Thorne or Ricardo Fuller he’s aiming at though. In fact it’s not even Richard Cresswell. It’s Lee Gregory who looks afraid to score half the time. Sam Vokes who looks like he’s forgotten what his main strength is. McLeans put in more than enough decent crosses this season. Unfortunately we have strikers who appear less comfortable with a good cross than Dracula does.

It was Ryan Shawcross who is better than every player mentioned there. I agree though (sort of), the sort of being I think there’s a lack of targets in general with his crosses. But I’d rather he didn’t cross then. I think it’s really fucking thick to cross when there’s no one there.

I think Vokes has looked a lot fitter and sharper since MON arrived and despite being one of his biggest critics he could actually be a decent player for us in the run in. Even better with someone out wide who knows how to cross a ball....................

Thought he was poor today, but fair play to him, he kept going and took his goal well.

Thought he was poor today, but fair play to him, he kept going and took his goal well. What I like about McClean is that he is his own biggest critic, it’s also what I dislike. You can tell that his mistakes weigh him down more than many, and his achievements raise him up. He played poor - okay for much of the game and looked very frustrated at himself, then he goes and gets a goal.

Totally agree with the comments about today, nowhere near his best but kept going and fair play for the goal took it really well.

Not the most talented. He does epitomise a lot of what Stoke is about...battling on regardless, giving all he has and defying the odds to stick two fingers up at the doubters. I’m happy Stoke fan this evening.

I disagree tbh. Not his best game but certainly not poor. Stuck to his wing a lot of the time, got forward and put in some decent balls (granted not all). Got back to help out plenty too. Lots of effort, frustrating at times but an integral part of the team today and a goal to boot. Becoming one of my favourite players is Macca.

Yep not his best game but he smashed the shit out of the ball to get his goal so fair play we needed that.

I don't want to be critical after two fantastic results but in my opinion James hasn't played particularly well in either game and Ince has been the better wide player in both games. He did however take his goal superbly today and epitomises his strength of character that he took it so well despite being below par for most of the game.

Very good listen that FM 2 things who’s dumb and dumber and when the presenter is on about a personal milestone do you reckon he’s on about his running stats last Saturday? Think the Dumb and Dumber thing is a couple of people from an Irish site called punditarena who he thinks treat him unfairly And earlier in the interview he said the milestone was his most high intensity sprints in a game.

Very lucky Verlinden isn’t fit with his performances in the last 5 games. Here we go Bayern has it nailed on the head once again??? Not sure verlinden was back for all those 5 games though and pretty sure he had a good game against Huddersfield. However I’m sure I will be enlightened on what I’m missing. He wasn’t as good as he has been the last few games but nothing to think that his place was in doubt especially from someone just coming back from loan in league one and wasn’t even ripping the league apart!!

My point is if he was fit I don’t think McLean would warrant being dropped based on 3 performances that were not at his best but not to a point where you place is in question.
