Denly's fizzing it out of that rough!
Elgar gone on a pretty borderline call, no way we get that decision without the onfield call being out.

Good days cricket. Won't be easy tomorrow but I think we'll knock them over just after tea.....

Good days cricket. Won't be easy tomorrow but I think we'll knock them over just after tea..... Great old school test this, and nice day 5 which they are thinking of doing away with is getting an airing. Finely balanced and could go anyway, a few quick wickets tomorrow will swing it in our favour. Got me ride and ticket sorted for tomorrow, should be a cracker.

This test proves why 4 days tests would be ridiculous. It would be the start of the death of test cricket. Getting bums on seats and filling the grounds in certain parts of the world is the bigger challenge, leave the format alone.....

Couldn't agree more, the daft cock official ticket website has said todays test day was sold out for yonks. Yet looking at the ground today there was more empty seats than a Wigan vs Vale game. Until basic things like public transport (which is God awful) and employment are sorted out then selling a handful of cricket tickets is going to be beyond them. Great country that seems to be relishing being crap at certain things.

You can see S/A getting a draw here. 🤔

You can see S/A getting a draw here. 🤔 They’re looking comfortable at the moment against some pretty average spin bowling. We’re going to need a magic spell from Jimmy or Stokes.

One wicket and the collapse will start.
But we need Stokes/Anderson on to make something happen, the spinners are just waiting for one to pop up out of the rough but the other 99% of the deliveries I could defend.....

If you need to take wickets, why use 2 part time spinners?

If you need to take wickets, why use 2 part time spinners? Because the rest of the bowling ain’t doing much. We’ve seen this before when touring. Our bowling with an old kookaburra on a flat pitch is frequently anaemic. We need an x-factor bowler. Someone super quick or a mystery spinner. That is why Archer has caused such excitement. And why he is missed big time today. We should never say never, but we don’t seem to be able to buy a wicket just now. Edit. We just bought one!! De Kock just cocked up.

Get in!! We’ll done England.
Brilliant bowling from Stokes, and some great catching at the end.
Imagine if that was a four day test and just ended up as a dull draw....

Ben Stokes would really run through walls for his team.
One of the great England displays from him yet again, at a ground we've not won at since the days of Laker and Staham.

Was it 9 overs on the trot he just bowled? 90mph as well. He’s a machine.... EDIT just checked it was only 5 overs, felt like a lot more!!

All at pace too in high heat, on the final day of a test match with no assistance from the ball or pitch. He's dragged us over the line again. His biggest contribution though was his 50 ball 70. He doesn't get that, and I don't see how we score quick enough to get the declaration as early as we did. He doesn't give a shit about his averages, he just does what's right for the team.

Ben Stokes. Wow!! Why would anyone want 4 day Test matches when you get a finish like that at the end of the 5th day?

An incredible day out at a ground we've not won at since 1957. Surrounded by English and SA alike in a very friendly atmosphere. Ben Stokes is a one man cricketing team. And yes 5 day tests should stay.

Well played England, I thought you would bottle it, thanks for proving me wrong. Now go on from here and win the series.

Really enjoyed watching the game today. Great win by England with Stokes wrapping it up at the end.
Terrific advert for test cricket, and for 5 day tests, they really shouldn't even think about reducing to 4 day matches.

Brilliant win and a fantastic test match. Both pitches so far this series have been excellent, plenty there for the bowlers but runs there for batsmen once they get in.
Looks like Jimmy has picked up another injury so that could well be the end of his series. Archer is due back for the next match so would be a straight swap.
Wood is also apparently fit now so it will be interesting to see if we’re tempted to play him over Curran. It would be an exciting attack with both Archer and Wood included.
