Three Shires Head is nice. Park up at Gradbach near the hostel (parking is free). There will be plenty of routes online. You could even take in Ludd's Church on the way back around as an extra. The river and the paths either side run through Staffs, Derbyshire and Cheshire. Wetton Hill is also worth a look. Park up in Wetton village (free parking again) head up to Wetton Hill over Ecton coppermines and eventually down on to the Manifold trail and pass Thor's cave on the way back. Sorry I don't have a route - it's just something I know how to do without a map. Again, sure you'll find something online for it.

Peak District parts of staffs/Cheshire i dont mind. Got a good rucksack walking boots camera sandwich water. Thanks in advance. You could park up at Hartington, head north out of the village past Pilsbury Castle, Crowdecote, then into Longnor for a drink. From Longnor, take in Parkhouse Hill / Chrome Hill and then head up the Buxton Road to the High Peak Bookstore and Café just off the A515. Treat yourself to a coffee and a nice book, then catch the bus back from just outside to Hartington. Only about 8.6 miles in total walking, although forecast is a bit shitty tomorrow and Parkhouse Hill can be a slippery limestone nightmare after rain / ice. Some road sections too, so take something highly reflective. Alternatively, away from the moorlands, head out past Eccleshall to Copmere. At the Star Inn, turn right, and then a few hundred metres further on there is a layby directly adjacent to the river Sow. Opposite, a step-ladder stile starts a circular walk around the mere, leading to all sorts of other places. You can follow the Sow more or less to its source or head off into Bishops Woods. For my money, one of the most beautiful and under-rated pieces of landscape in Britain.

I normally go from Gradbach, over the moor with the WW2 plane crash and onto Shutlinglslow. Up to the top, back down the same way and up through the Cumberland Brook and over to Three Shires Head, then back to Gradbach. About 10 mile or so but it’s always worthwhile 👍

Bosley reservoir over to Wincle and back is nice and there are loads of different ways to do it if you've got an OS handy. Nearer to you, Congleton Edge, Mow Cop, Hanging Wood is nice and easy if you don't want to drive too far.

People often overlook Cannock Chase. Dozens of permutations of where to walk, with many circular walks. Try Severn Springs towards the stepping stones and Sherbrooke Valley. Drop down through Shubough Park. Lunch (except Monday’s in winter) at the Clifford Arms Great Haywood and then back along the picturesque canal to Seven Springs.
Edit. The Clifford is very dog friendly if required

A Mr. S. Collymore of Staffordshire also recommends Cannock Chase highly

So today i took myself to Tittersworth its was a decent long walk.
Anyone been the Lazy Trout pub neaer it?
The drive back not so good. Hate winter.
Flooded road so had to take a diffrent route ended up going up a near vertical narrow lane. Had to reverse for someone then back wheel got stuck in grass mud. Wouldnt budge. 1/2 hour later a kind local towed me out.
The walk was great though.
I just cant stand winter.

I need advice from the ramblers photographers.
Ive been Coombs Valley RSPB reserve a few times and its decent. Im looking for somewhere diffrent. Somewhere that is ideal for spotting Wildlife? If anyone has suggestions great. I know wildlife can be unpredictable and it can be luck of the draw.
I had a look online at Marton Mere near Blackpool. Its a nature reserve but says you need a ticket and its not open until 9:30am. I was aiming to get somewhere closer to early morning.
If anyone knows of any decent places or places that are teeming with wildlife i thank you.

Joining the RSPB is a good idea (few quid a month) and you get full access to all of the reserves. Also your local Wildlife Trust - my preferred option although I have membership to both. My local WT (Warwickshire) allows access 24 hours a day, all year round.

Brandon Marsh is pretty quiet, although they do have school parties that visit. As a member you get the key code to the barrier, and a gate is left open for members to come and go "out of hours". A secret gate
The RSPB sites in Norfolk are pretty good (probably the best in UK).
Where are you based?

For anyone who likes getting out there download the AllTrails app. It's pretty darn good. No matter where you are in the world it will give you a selection of walks in the immediate area complete with map, route and various grades of difficulty from very easy upwards. Used it a few times now and never had a problem. It uses GPS so you always know exactly where you are.

Stoke on Trent. I appreciate the look of the draw and the fact you can sit for ages waiting for the perfect shot. Will def head down your way probably March time. Get out there.

Id imagine early to mid spring may be the best time spotting stuff. RSPB Middleton Lakes - not far from The Belfry and Drayton Manor wouldn't be too far for you? I haven't been there in years, but the last time I was there, a lot of earthmoving was going on, and I thought that when it was all finished (which it must be now) it was going to be good.
From Stoke you have the whole Peak District to chose from. What about Deep Hayes Country Park? Near Longsdon (I used to love fishing there - even with no fish caught, it was a beautiful spot to relax in) No memberships required. Again, I haven't been there for years, but I would imagine a visit just after dawn or before dusk could be fruitful. I'm no great photographer, but I think that the best shots are taken when most folks are still snoring in bed
I think that the secret here is to get "your own patch". A place that you can visit very frequently. Over time you get to know what is about at the different times of year. Of course you also try other places, just for a change.
