Hopefully we don't sell our best player when we are 1 point above the relegation zone and playing the league leaders away next. You'd have to have a drug addled death wish to go and do that!

If he does go to WHU and they decide to play him, he'll be making one more trip down to the bet365 again next season (assuming we get our act together of course)

£10M is the least we should accept in our situation! We need good players more than money. Who in their right mind will come to Stoke? We have the rest of this season to right the ship, which means we need to persuade players like Allen to stick it out. We have to finish as strongly as possible this season; otherwise we have no chance of competing for good players in the summer and we’ll be stuck in the lower leagues for the foreseeable future.

Agreed.
However, this is Stoke.
And we have Teflon Tone 'steering' the good ship HMS 'Transfers'.
Thus he will be sold, on deadline day (giving us no chance to replace him, even if we could afford to) for £5.5m (& said CEO will be busy pleasuring himself due to the fact that he's managed to up the fee by a whopping 10%).
We will then be left with Cousins, Clucas and some guy from Blackpool for the CM spots.
And we will be praying Brum and every other team in the bottom half get a points deduction.
Or else.
Oh, and Joe will be able to rejoice in the fact that he's actually WH's, what, 14th choice MF addition?

Point is, if he wants out it'll be hard to stop him, but at least we want decent money back so we at least could loan a quality midfielder.

Any quality MF player is not going to come to Stoke, given our league position and the fact they see the good players leaving. We can enforce Allen’s contract and make him stay but that runs the risk of him becoming resentful and underperforming. Therefore, he needs to be persuaded to stay. A standard business practice in these situations is to offer a retention bonus.

David Moyes admits West Ham may have to turn to some golden oldies to get them out of relegation trouble – even though he doesn't really want to. He said: “I would like to find a way of bringing a level of player in that we can rely on, consistently. But I've also got a mind set of bring in young players. “Obviously young players take time to settle. We are in a league position where we've got to be careful bringing in too many young players. “I might go out and sign a 30-year-old in the window but my picture is different.”

I know Joe has his limitations but under MON he has improved and losing him would knock us back. Though some look on him as an albatross because his signing tied in with our fall he’s never been anything but professional. Unlike some of our “big” names he’s never kicked up a stink to get out of the club or gone big on Twitter. If played correctly he can be an asset.

Good.
We don't want your derisory, dildo-funded, half-baked, 'oh, you'll have to do then now we've tried every other MF-er with a pulse" bid thanks very much WH anyway.
Do one.

Welcome news
At this time, in this situation given his current form, its good news
I would have been very surprised if they thought Allen was going to improve them.
Ive been a massive critic of him because I think he has consistently underperformed and generally think he's not as good as some people seem to think.
But this is his best period so far for Stoke by a mile, I hope it continues and I hope he can improve, because he should be aiming to really.

Stoke aren’t selling him to cash in jeycov....it’s because they need his wages off the books, the fact he’s currently playing excellent doesn’t influence that The need for him to stay to help avoid relegation and the need to balance the books are two separate issues

Considering he's now our best midfielder it would be absolutely ludicrous to sell him whilst relegation is still a possibility

Selling in the summer makes much more sense for us than doing it now, when we have already lost 3 midfielders who have played a big part in the squad this season.
