For the past 3 years I've been wanting this a lot. Since MON has joined however he's moving the ball so much faster and looking like the Welsh Allen instead of the version we've had. Fingers crossed he stays and keeps delivering, but if he goes, I'll selectively remember the pre-MON era where he was dreadful.

I seriously don’t get this love in of N’Diaye and Etebo- we were not ripping up any trees with them in the side- we conceded goals aplenty with Badou as the CDM while Etebo could dribble but had a totally ineffectual final ball, plus the positional sense of a Dodo. Badou showed some desire under Jones, but don’t forget he couldn’t get away quick enough in the season following relegation, while Etebo - well what exactly has he done while here- is it 6 games that he’s played in where we have won?

You'd have Cousins and Woods over them, willingly, yes? If Allen goes, that's what we're looking at - either one of the two with Clucas and Powell, or if Powell gets knacked again, both of them and Clucas.

Why couldn't WHU have loaned him for the last 3 years when he was pretty dire? Ironic that now we have a manager who can get the best out of him he's probably on his way out.

How many times Toxic- their presence in the team made absolutely no difference to the points we gained. I think that they are better players than Woods and Cousins, but by how much is debatable; I would sooner have kept a creative player like Bojan than any of these 4 -I appreciate that you cannot compare Bojan and Badou’s role, but over a whole season I’m sure that a player like Bojan would have created more points from the odd bit of magic than any of these 4. All immaterial as none of them (Badou, Etebo, Bojan) are with us now

The point is that we can withstand the loss of one or maybe even two but lose all three and we really have left ourselves with the dross in our midfield. Are we confident they'll do enough? Both were a fucking mile bettwer than Cousins and Woods, just to clarify the whole 'I'm not sure by how much' thing. 2) You need creative players and defensive minded midfielders as well. Every good team has that balance. They act as the springboard for the creative players. Etebo and Ndiaye have gone but to lose all three (if Allen goes) and not adequately replace them is a very dicey gamble.

Yep - more games than Woods or Cousins though! And he seems a steady Eddie, does-what-it-says-on-the-tin type that MON trusts to do a job, at least in the short-term. Probably hard to get much better in this window with our FFP concerns. Admittedly a pool of Cousins, Evans, Clucas and Powell would be a gamble, especially if Woods was the price of winkling Evans out of Blackburn

Etebo and Ndiaye have gone but to lose all three (if Allen goes) and not adequately replace them is a very dicey gamble. It’s as I have said before- of the three we will miss Allen the most. Etebo created nothing- he is exciting running forward but the final ball was not there. Defensively he was as positionally unaware as Allen, so Allen for me , does get into dangerous positions and has scored. Badou- other than Fulham ( clean sheet) we conceded 2 or more with him as DM- I am not saying that it’s his fault, but I am pointing out that results wise ( and it is points that will keep us up, not who played well in what position)we have done no better with them in the team than we have done with Woods or Cousins. If we lose Allen, then I agree with you we are on dodgy ground. He gets the most Agro from fans on here, but it will be interesting to see if our points tally gets better without him- I don’t think it will, but like all my comments, it’s just my opinion and is no more valid than yours, Bayern’s or anyone else’s.

Our non-bottom 5 points per game is cut in half when Etebo doesn't play:
10 of his 11 appearances were against non-bottom 5 and we recorded 8 points = 0.8 ppg
We've played non-bottom 5 teams 9 times without him and recorded 4 points = 0.44 ppg (excluding QPR)
Obviously 0.8 ppg isn't anything to shout home about, but I think those writing Etebo off because he hasn't been involved in our good performances against the bottom 5 is a bit reductive. I genuinely think against the better, more organised sides we will struggle to penetrate their midfields. Which has been shown by our goal scoring falling off a cliff when we haven't played a truly relegation threatened side. It's all moot now I guess.

Allen was brilliant today.
Best player on the pitch by a country mile.
We'd be mad to sell him.

Allen was brilliant today. Best player on the pitch by a country mile. We'd be mad to sell him. At last, someone else can see what a good player he is, but unfortunately most o& the rest of our team aren’t good enough to be on the same page as him, so they will hound him out of the club .....

Hope not, first of all we would find it very difficult to get an upgrade from that sort of money, and he’s more valuable to us

We need to keep Joe for me.
Keep him at the level he's been at lately, get Jack to put the right gloves on the right hands, (hopefully) get Ryan back at the back and either get a decent striker (acknowledging the chances seem very thin atm) or, get a decent return from Fat Sam (repaying the faith MO'N has shown in him) and we might just have a spine to see us through and out of the mire.

Looking on the 365 website I cant find odds on a "bid for allen on deadline day and stoke not having an adequate replacement lined up"
Poor odds I know but easy money none the less.

I can't see how he'll stay. Moyes wants him, West ham can afford him, the player will want to go and we won't be able to refuse a half decent bid.
