I’ve read somewhere that one of the problems in India is that there are very few people that have inside toilets. Most towns and villages don’t have sanitation, therefore everyone has to go out to the bushes for a Tom Tit. This makes women especially very vulnerable to attack. There does also seem to be a very violent attitude towards women as well. I don’t know whether there is actually a rise in this type of case or whether it’s just being reported more.

I'm going with your 'reported more' theory, you have to think it has always gone on don't you? I suppose you could think of it as a step in the right direction that just occasionally now women dare to report it if you want to take a positive view on the.situation Not quite sure where women getting burned to death on the way to the court room fits with that though. Grim stuff, will at least a generation to change attitudes I would imagine.

The one from Friday, when the 4 suspects went on a ‘reconstruction’ of the rape & murder of the vet, then all get shot in an attempted escape is mental. They’re obsessed with burning women: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sati_(practice)

As shocking as it is the situation in India isnt amywhere near as bad as the UKs India population 1 Billion plus. rape cases = 34,000 .20017 UK population= 66 million .Rape cases = 58,000 2018/9 www.statista.com/statistics/283100/recorded-rape-offences-in-england-and-wales/The comment about toilets is just ridiculous.Only in rural areas is this done and not all at that ,the rural areas in India are close knit and im not sure where the rapes are happening but I would be very surprised if it was happening in the close knit communities.

You are off your med's you are fella! Rape is an epidemic in India and far more common there than it is in the UK. It is estimated that only around 15% of rapes in India are recorded and of course this excludes marital rape as raping your wife is perfectly legal. As for your claim on toilets you are miles off the mark, despite a huge somewhat epic toilet building campaign over the past few years there are still around 600 million people without a toilet, this is evident in urban slums as well as in rural areas, this clearly makes women and children vulnerable when they to go outside.

Are you for fucking real? Out of 1.3 billion people I am sure there are hundreds of millions of nice people, I am not having a dig at the Indian people or their culture. But to deny that they have a very serious problem with rape and sexual assault of women or that millions of people don't shit in the woods is plain stupid! Go and tell the millions that are protesting about it that you know better than them!

I think he’s trying to avoid generalisations of a country that has 1.3 billion people, and lumping them all under one umbrella. It happens all the time on this board. Just look at StarKillers ridiculous statement at the beginning of this thread.

Yeah, it’s over populated and the road system just doesn’t work. But they’re are pockets in the more historic areas, which are worth a walk round . Loads of history. Plus, I found the people very welcoming when I was there.
