I know I'll get slated for this but here goes ! I'm 56 years old and I've had a season ticket for about 30 years give or take I'm missing tomorrow's match to take the family to the Manchester Xmas markets...I would never ever have done this until this season...I've booked holidays etc around SCFC games as have many others I'm sure but I just don't care anymore I have done a few away games this season too but I have come to the point where even a good away day with the lads on the ale doesn't excite me Maybe it's just my age Anyone else feel the same or is it just me ?

As a fan you feed off the players energy, there are not enough players on the pitch willing to give anywhere near 100%. So as a fan we lose interest

Fair enough, it's a free country and you're entitled to do what you want. It doesn't make you any less of a fan either. I used to love having a season ticket when we were in League One/Championship (before the Premier League years) and also going to quite a few away games but due to personal circumstances I haven't been able to go so much in recent years. Doesn't mean I don't support the team (from afar) and I still enjoy getting to a few games. Ironically, one of which is tomorrow!

It’s hard to remain passionate when some on the pitch clearly aren’t bothered or simply aren’t good enough. I had my first season ticket at 11 and I’m almost 61 and I’m away this weekend too. Normally wild horses couldn’t drag me away from a game. I will listen to the game but I’m almost at the point where I expect them to lose. I really hope MON can turn it around but I think there’s a real prospect that we could get relegated again

I can relate a bit to that only having kids changed my outlook ,don’t get me wrong me and my eldest have season tickets but I’m not as adamant on going to the match now, think I missed the first three games this season due to being on holiday.

At least you're interested enough to bore us with how you're losing interest.

Well i think you will return quickly as Xmas markets and the Manchester one in particular are the worst saturday afternoon along with shopping i can think of. Hope its the shock to get your enthusiasm back when you sneekily listen to the result and Stoke win I have lost some of my mojo and the trips back up the M6 can be depressive after another defeat which 2019 in particular has been full of. Its the people you meet around the game that keeps me going when times are tough, but i did think about not renewing had NJ been in charge next season.

I'm sure it's not just you, although I do find the timing of your post a bit odd...we have a new manager, a bit of a "bounce" and a feeling that we could, just could, escape the mess we are in. My anticipation has been renewed...hope it isn't another false dawn As for the away days...you've clearly got the wrong mates

I pick my matches these days at 67 and I'm very selective. I want Stoke to stay up of course but if they should go down. I'd like the Vale to go up so's we can have a proper local derby. Last one I went to, Allan Ball was manager and me and my mate got arrested and banged up for boozing on the terraces.

I do think the way we play in the main, with zero cutting edge, added to the fact we’ve lost two thirds of our games, has you looking forward to the actual 90 minutes with all the relish you look forward to root canal treatment with a pissed fat fingered dentist. You just have the savour the moments like the Diouf one last Saturday. A shin scraping mental that makes you feel 18 again.

Yes I can't wait until brexit is over and the interest rate goes up, at least with a hike in interest rates I will get a better return on my savings and investments 😉

I’ve got sympathy with the way you feel. I’m off a similar age and the last few years have certainly seen a decline in my willingness to put myself out as much to watch the side. To be fair there has been little or no return for anybody’s investment be it time or money in that period and I just have that sinking feeling that I’ve seen all this before.

Sometimes I wish I was, of all the people to lose interest it won't be them sad enough to spend their time on a forum about a team who are shit though let's be real.

If anything I’m as interested as I’ve ever been. Because it’s almost fascinating to watch a club be so mismanaged for such a prolonged period. It’d be harder to fuck this club up more with malicious intentions.
We’re almost back to the level where my Stoke story started, which saddens me immensely but even if I didn’t go I can’t pretend I wouldn’t be looking at my phone every 10 seconds to check. It’s innate.

Jones' reign meant you'd get eroded interest through the poor performances and worse results
Still think we kept him way too long
MO'N's appointment does really change that for me
He will keep us up and if he can shift the dross and create a balanced squad he will turn us into a force to be reckoned with - and for that reason my interest is reignited

I will go but I can`t say I`m looking forward to it and wouldn`t blame anyone else for not bothering. The apathy of the millionaires masquerading as footballers is getting me down.

I lost a lot of hope/interest/ love for Stoke City about 4 years a go. Mark Hughes totally ruined my club. I still have a share in a season ticket. Three of us share two season tickets due to all of us being shift workers and living out of the area. I live in South Yorks and prefer away games these days. My last home game was against Derby It ended in a draw... Last away game was at Barnsley. Two shit teams both flogging a dead horse. I just wish that i could get a divorce from Stoke City but it is impossible for most blokes. At this moment in time i hate Stoke City but i must be some sort of masochistic pervert that enjoys pain and suffering and coming back for more

That Mark Hughes was a right twat back then
