Too bad he can only cross a ball to row zed. He really isn't good at a single position. Reminds me of Cameron. Good for the squad but more an athlete who can cover when needed. Long term, meh. There is better.

The more I reflect the decision to play at right back having. Said we need more and better crossing on Friday is as Poorly thought through as leaving Badou and Etebo out .
It’s been a terrible few days of management and belies the well prepared considered perception

O Neill before Barnsley: We're going to play a system that suits the players and play them in the positions they're used to. So why are we playing a centre back at right back when we already have two of those? Because the two we have can’t defend , a full back is a defender first

www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/341049/saison//verein/0/liga/0/wettbewerb//trainer_id/0/pos/5Before Jones decided he could play at RB, his only other game there was in September 2014 in a 2-1 defeat against Sunderland U23s. And it looks like the madness is spreading down at Clayton Wood as normally rational people go nuts. For Jones, now read O'Neill. Hopefully there'll be at least be a question at the press conference about why another manager is ignoring our £4m right-back signing with 200 league games in that position? Presumably there is a sound reason, but one which will just expose the folly of our transfer operation at the same time. Thought he was poor on Saturday and especially as he wasn’t up against a winger! Edwards who is not brilliant defensively would have made more sense on the day? CCV doesn’t even know what the ground is called from his interview 😂🤦♂️

There is better. Unfortunately this season Edward's crossing has usually ended up there as well. I don't know what happened to the young fullback who although not being the greatest defender would run down the wing and swing in dangerous curling crosses.

Pre kick off the only concern I had about the starting 11 was Vokes.
Clearly, in hindsight, the lack of energy in midfield (Badou or Etebo) and CCV strugggling, were big problems, although Vokes was still the biggest waste of space, closely followed by Ince. When so many players fall short of what, lets be honest, is not a very high standard, then you know its going to be a tough day. Easy to blame MON but no manager can legislate for over half the side just not performing. Even McClean looked way off his recent levels...

I don't quite understand how Edwards went from being in the winning side against Wigan and getting dropped, to CCV being in the losing side against Cardiff and retaining his place. I know Edwards isn't perfect and CCV wasn't THAT bad against Cardiff but it was obvious to anyone with eyes that CCV is not a right back and won't be unless he gets some serious coaching on how to play there.
Really odd for me, that one.

Where was he for the second goal....why didn't he see the danger and come across to mark the player who scored..instead of staying where he was marking fresh air...jesus

On the basis of his last two performances, I would dispute that.

I can't understand why there is so much antagonism for CCV when he could be used to replace the player who has been at fault for the last three goals we have conceded. I keep looking on here for the thread about how useless BMI is and asking why he is still picked. He didn't pick up the loose man v Cardiff despite not actually marking anyone at the throw in, was totally out jumped at a corner for Blackburn first and was running in treacle so much for the second that despite starting level with the player was two yards behind him when they reached the penalty area.

Basically we need a new back four before anything else, than what we are playing at the moment !! Probably right. As awful as it might be, if we had a defence that could protect the goal a bit more we'd at least have a few more points. Candidate for Stoke worst ever defence?

He's a good player. Would rather him in the team than all our CH's except BMI. Prefer him at RB too as long as Edwards is suffering from the yips.
Now, lets talk about Stephen Ward...

if you start with vokes up front you need edwards or someone else who can hit a decent cross in and we didnt

How many good crosses has Edwards put in this season? I think he has one assist from a free kick. He also used to cut inside and shoot but doesn't any more. Something has gone seriously wrong with his development. Perhaps as Campbell senior says, too many managers.

He's in and out the team with inconsistent regularity. That's not good for a young player's confidence. An older pro like Ward, for instance, will just shrug his shoulders over manager madness and watch his bank statement with pleasure, but it doesn't do well for a young man, especially if there is no explanation given.

Bardsley and Pieters start for Burnley this evening v Man City we haven’t really replaced them with improved players, although I’m hopeful Edwards will be part of a stronger back 4

I thought Edwards was progressing impressively last season, but this season he's a liability at times, does he have an attitude problem? I can see why Carter Vickers is preferred at this moment, he's more dependable defensively.

As bad as I don’t think Carter-Vickers is, its mental the players we’ve lost to end up playing him there.
Would prefer him at CB alongside Shawcross ideally. Rather him than Batth. Unless Bruno can actually remember how to play football in the meantime.
