Listening to Tyson Fury promoting his new book on the radio last week , he paid tribute to Gorman , his uncle and king of the gypsies . Undefeated as a heavyweight for 20 years . The reason I was interested was the Gormans lived around uttoxeter when I was growing up during the 60/70s They put the fear of God in most people and it paid to avoid getting on their radar for any reason . Don't make eye contact in the pubs . I know there are a few lads on here from utch , just wondered if anyone else remembered them . Presently Nathan Gorman is having some success as a heavyweight. I didn't realise he was so well regarded until I read his wiki and related articles

Didn't Bartley Gorman close the Uttoxeter bypass (pre current A50) to stage a horse and trap race against a rival gypsy? 1989-ish? Think it ended in a mutually enjoyable punch-up with the constabulary.

What a cheery little film that is. Even the songs were miserable ☹️

I went to primary school with one of the Gormans, but can't remember his name...it could have been John. I thought Shane Meadows still planned to make a biopic about Bart. It could be interesting if he ever did it and would thrust Utch into the limelight.
