Wonder who the players were he was disappointed with for wanting away once we weren’t in the Premier League? 😂😂 N'Daiye and Etebo. It's Etebo who I really can't get my head around. At least Ndiaye joined when we were still in the Prem, albeit looking likely for relegation. I suppose Etebo joined expecting to go straight back up, but surely any agent worth his salt would know that earning promotion isn't that straightforward, especially given the state we'd gotten ourselves into.

[brId I would imagine his agent told him sign, top dollar for the next 5 years guaranteed and if they don’t get promoted, or you don’t fancy it play up and then they’ll loan you out and you may then get another top dollar move if it goes well. Mercenaries of the footballing kind there are and we’ve had a few.

The agent doesn't get a pay day when a player is serving his contract, unless the player is doing exceptionally well and his agent can go in and try and negotiate a pay rise. Otherwise it's when the player gets a new club, the agent gets his cut. I expect many footballers' heads are turned by clever talking agents.

He just gets better and better the more he speaks. I like how he sees expectations as a positive thing where we’ve been used to having them managed or dampened down. He talks about a structure not just to get promoted, but to also stay there...it sounds as if he has a plan.
It’s probably just me, but I do like how he refers to the club as Stoke City and not just Stoke...proper old school.

Thanks for that.
One thing which stood out for me is that Michael's actually built two teams in his short time at Stoke: a team to avoid relegation, then a team to challenge in the Championship. Obvious examples of this are his use of James McClean and Tom Ince.
Whatever else you may think of McClean, he's nothing if not a battler, i.e. a good man in a relegation fight. And as for Ince, while he's clearly never fully exploited his obvious talent while at Stoke, nonetheless he knows the club, his teammates, the opposition etc, so he was utilised too.
Then we get to this season, where McClean is used for certain games/roles, and Ince not at all.
Which I suspect would be Michael's answer to those critics who question why he's changed his formation and tactics this season from the ones which did the job so well last season - it was a different job.
Or a Shire horse to pull a plough (relegation), but a Steeplechaser to win the Grand National (promotion).

Great analogy

He must be buzzing. We are starting to kick into gear. 7 goals in the last 2 games.
If he continues to get us improving we have a realistic chance at automatic promotion.

Love him. Calm, assured, doesn't get flustered (I realise they're all similar adjectives but I'm going for emphasis)
Hope he's here for a very long time.....

Doesn’t get overexcited when we win. He really is a class operator. I hope to god he genuinely sees his long term future here. Because other clubs will come calling. It’s impossible to hide a diamond like him.
