Cant help thinking there's been fallouts with Jones with these 2.From seeing him I think he's the type that can upset players and wasn't a great manager. O'Neill seems the complete opposite a bit of a thinker and not someone who flys off the handle. Hopefully at last we've got another Macari. Someone who'll have the players playing for him.

Luton fan at work said that Jones always has clear favourites and seems to get riled up with certain players for no reason.
O'Neill seems to value players for what they bring to the table and not just who they are.

It's been one day, we haven't a clue what O'Neill will be like with the players so let's not make grand statements about how much better he is than Jones in that regard.
Good to see them both back though, on form they offer a lot to us.

Wasn't really impressed with Woods today, particularly when he turned his back for their first goal. As for Diouf, it doesn't really matter if he was frozen out by Jones; he's been rubbish pretty much since he got here and he doesn't possess the ability to improve, whoever the manager is.

Jones is an absolute fucktard, a self-deluded fool who failed to learn from any of his mistakes and assumed he was always right - he clearly had no idea how to manage a squad of semi-elite players or anyone who dared to suggest he was wrong Wrong man Wrong time Jones is dead, all hail O'Neil

Good man management will make a hell of a difference here. This. Having a popular manager who's liked can make a huge difference. Like in most workplaces if you've got a boss that's a little unhinged and unpredictable players wont give there best. Hopefully this is the start of us turning the corner.

Utter rubbish. Diouf scores more than any other Stoke player has managed in the PL so the idea he has never performed is nonsense. He also did okay as a wing back and when fully fit is better in the air and quicker than any of our other strikers. In this division he is a real asset

That really isn't the point. I was responding to a post that specifically related to Woods and Diouf not one on today's result. I'm delighted with today's result but it doesn't change the fact that Woods turned in a lacklustre performance and Diouf has been poor for a very long time

Read an article today where MON creates a laidback atmosphere for the players to thrive but at the same won’t take any shit. He hasn’t got a problem with bollocking players he even encoded a FIFA rule of stopping them playing for their club when crying out of an international. Firm but fair.
It’s a new broom now. Everyone gets a chance.

I mean, in the grand scheme of things it’s probably inconsequential, but I do wonder how they pick their first squad if they’ve only been here a day. Woods and Diouf were nowhere to be seen for months on end so has he picked a squad just based on yesterday or do the staff/players already here have a word in his ear and say these lads are good enough to play?

Maybe he did it the same way Jones did, put all the names in a hat and pick 11 out

Diouf will be a revelation at wide right in a front 3 once he gets his fitness and confidence back. Also adds a LOT defensively that Ince never does.

Does it matter in the EFL though? It kind of says the EFL: Stoke City have submitted the list of allocated squad numbers to the EFL ahead of the start of the 2019/20 Championship season against Queens Park Rangers tomorrow So yes I think it matters, I think we should delete these threads before a Barnsley fan finds it
