Looks like it could be Woods, Allen and Clucas tight together in the middle with Ince and McLean making it a 4-5-1 when defending

I would think MoN asked shawcross and allen which players/system/formation they believe is the best and this reflects what they told him ? the inclusion of Diouf is odd. I'd argue the phasing out of Diouf in the first place was more odd. yes, given our total lack of goal threat giving Diouf a run out seemed like a no brainer, but the weeks went by and it never happened, just surprised to see his name on the team sheet. Desperate times when you're pinning your hopes on Diouf for goals :/

He’s had less than 48 hours and I’m behind him 100% but fucking hell, that is a shocking side.

Right behind this guy but dropping Ndiaye to the bench and bringing in Woods is very strange one, and Diouf ? Jesus I never saw that coming, but has much has I dislike him he is a better option than Campbell.

What's happened to Hogan? He’s taken up wrestling someone made him angry

He hasn't got much choice, has he?
If he wants to play a right winger, he's got to play Ince. And if he fancies a left winger, it's got to be McClean. Left-back? It's got to be 34yo Ward. If he fancies a striker who'll put a shift in as the lone striker, it's got to be Gregory. And with Badou carrying a niggle, it's got to be Woods unless we want a League 2 player in Cousins

Great to see Woods back to get some control in midfield and glad he's put Gregory up front rather than Vokes, interesting Diouf back in, a bit of pace maybe later in the game or on the wing for McClean. Ward worries me at full back but he can always bring CCV on and move Indi over or Badou coming on and moving Clucas back. All in all probably the best he could do with our tumble dry squad but would be nice to to see the likes of McClean and Ward not figuring for the longterm. Should be harder to beat, hopefully but don't see much firepower. Let's see.

Perhaps Hogan is injured still if it was serious enough on Monday to take him off the bench.

We've sacked the manager but it's the same old players.

He's had to go for some width though, the way we've been set up up the last few matches. With what he's got to work with, the only way to do that is bring in McClean and Ince? Bruno, Gregory and Woods are back, Lindsay is out of the squad, a not fully fit Badou is on the bench and he wants a look a Diouf hitch seems fair enough to me?

To say I'm not a huge fan of either McClean or Ince is a no massive understatement but maybe this guy will get a tube out of them.
At least he's relinguished JM from his defensive duties, it has cost very dearly having him there and he put some dangerous crosses in on his last outing and if he can enthuse Ince and stop him playing hide and seek he's a bloody genius.

Its possible Badou has been running on empty for a couple of games and needs resting - plenty of fixtures coming.
At least, I hope to god that's the case, as he's seemed like one of the only ones who gives a shit.

The toxicity on this board towards the new gaffer already is sickening, wtf. Hasn't really been any on this thread though...unless simply being confused by a selection now somehow constitutes being "toxic". Plus, a bit strange for you, of all people, to complain about toxicity on this board when in the last few weeks you've called some players "wank..toss...shower of shit" etc. People in glass houses and all that....

Not too bad for me apart from the inclusion of Ward, he's absolutely useless.

The toxicity on this board towards the new gaffer already is sickening, wtf. What toxicity? Generally people are behind him and are begging for him to do well. At most people are questioning whether he can: a) take to club management like a duck to water - which is a genuine question to ask. b) successfully balance managing a club and a nation - ditto. It isn't the supporters fault that the shine has been taken off completely by the ridiculous dual job situation.

If we are going to score any goals then we need width in attack. The only change I would have made with the players available would be to put Clucas in at left back, and Badou into the midfield. Both full back positions are our biggest weakness.

Joking aside, I have a strange feeling that this manager will be good for us. The team line up looks a bit meh, but as an earlier poster said, our squad leads to that.
I think he'll get us organised and drilled, which will pay off in the long run. I expect the much maligned Ince to score today.

Vokes shouldn't be ahead of Hogan in the pecking order. Hopefully he's just going off of recommendations.
Glad to see Woods back.

The toxicity on this board towards the new gaffer already is sickening, wtf. Some ain't happy because they wanted TP so badly. Still it seems that TP was never considered and never won't despite this being a perfect opportunity to bring him back and rely his fire fighter abilities and yet they chose not to. So time to move on, the chapter named TP is permanently closed.

To be fair to ANYBODY who took over as manager, the task of putting out a "That's a good line-up" starting XI out of this unbalanced squad of substandard players is impossible. Our squad has been so badly assembled that most if not all fans, let alone managers, would actually have to play poor players and players out of position because it's the dross we're stuck with. Agree matey.I just hope that as he sees more of the squad he can sort out some of the crap we've accumulated whilst picking up points along the way.Tough task but not impossible.

Perhaps Hogan is injured still if it was serious enough on Monday to take him off the bench. The way it looks to me is he doesn't hold much for somebody else's loan players. Hogan and Duffy, not that they ever established themselves under Jones, are out altogether, while Vickers-Cameron does go on the bench.
