Was just looking through the league tables and wondered what is happening with Bury. I know they went bust and were thrown out of the league but does anybody know what plays they have - Malcolm?

They are still afloat just. The courts have given them 2 weeks to get a buyer and they have applied to the football conference for next season if they stave of liquidation. Plenty on 'tinternet if you type their name in a search engine.

I work with a Bury ST holder and all I can say is it is a huge mess. Extinction and Phoenix club is just around the corner and they have a fight on their hands to keep their stadium, which I'm led to believe is tangled up in a huge web of debt.
Plans for election into the Nort West Counties league and a ground share with Radcliffe Borough are well underway.

There was a Bury old boys club match at Radcliffe yesterday, started raising funds for the Phoenix club, if, looks likely they will be liquidated in 2 weeks time.

AFC Bury have recently been accepted to play in the North West Counties Division 1 North next season buryafc.uk/I'll definitely go an watch some of their games next season when we aren't playing, their new local rivals are Prestwich Heys which isn't far from me and there's plenty of other local games in Ashton, Bolton, Chadderton, Atherton. All the Bury fans I know are really looking forward to it now they've had time to process the whole debacle......

For me, one of the big problems is the way the "big two" (United and City) tend to suck the lifeblood out of smaller clubs around them. Bury is a case in point, with Bolton, Oldham, Stockport County being others. Profligacy on the part of owners - Bolton a case in point - does not help either. Then there is Wigan. These clubs form the "cement" of communities where they are located, but do not share in the "money pot" that is Premier League football. Smaller clubs can also be starting points for the career of some of the younger players they nurture, yet it seems that they seldom reap the full financial benefit of what these players are eventually worth. Bury should be reinstated to the League a.s.a.p.

I know there's an athletics stadium around the corner from Gigg Lane that was mentioned as well, that could be more a long term solution as it would need money spending on it.....

Right, I was just wondering if that's likely, and if any fans were trying to make that happen or if they've all just got behind the new club. From what I can see the original club is on the verge of liquidation.

The NWCFL suggested to start mid September without crowds, 86 of 92 clubs rejected that idea
