I think he should be sacked now, just for saying what he has. I don't think we would have beaten Swansea If McClean had started. He should be sacked for saying he's got three players to choose from? For making out McClean has done well at left back. He hasn't, and Jones will never convert him. Hopefully, he will start with BMI again, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if McClean comes straight back in.

Nathan lad if you really honestly believe that the choice of who to be left back is a difficult decision then perhaps you are in the wrong job And WTF does Ward gaining momentum mean? Most people know that we can't start Ward in many games otherwise we automatically trigger another 12 month deal for the pensioner! If he starts his run up now he may arrive in time for Saturday! Nath looks like he's been on the piss for two weeks.

Useful to see that, ta. So to be fair (and to shut up the usual mob who moan before looking at context), he talked about McClean because McClean was specifically mentioned by the journo. Most of what he says is his usual "it's all down to luck" gibberish however.

He sounds way too positive given our league position. All been about bad luck and now everything is suddenly bright and rosy.
Hes too much of a NICE guy for football management. He should be rollocking more players and making them afraid of him

Surely he canāt believe that? Heās been absolutely atrocious. Responsible for countless goals. Has he? How many are directly down to him? How many have been a case of winger beating him then getting a cross in? For the record I wouldn't play him at left back either however the facts don't back up your statement Vast majority of goals have been down to combination of goalkeeper error (7 or so) defenders unable to head simple crosses away (and that goes for all the defenders we have played) or straightforward lack of concentration Swansea goal was a good example (MacLean not playing) After that goal the defence was magnificent so that back four should start Where I would strongly criticise MacLean is his poor crossing. I disagree. The ease at which crosses have come in from the left and the complete lack of pressure on the crosser has added to the problem of conceding. The fact every team has targeted us down the left shows what a shit show we have been down that side. Maclean's crossing, inability to pass, constant ability to make the wrong choice as well as his defending make me wonder how on earth he has had a career as a premier league player. It's astonishing.

I assume he's just saying this to get around the uncomfortable truth that Maclean is crap at left back and no amount of coaching can change that. If he truly believes and and does play him on Saturday he will deservedly be doomed.

Of course, if he had actually bought a LWB in either window instead of trying to convert an aging, slowing winger None of this would have mattered!

Do people expect Jones to come out and say publically McClean is wank? He's got to defend his players, especially McClean when Jones has backed him so much since the summer I'd be amazed if BMI wasn't left back tomorrow Unfortunately BHP yes, yes they do.

Some highly humorous comments on here. But come on what's he supposed to say? He's under massive pressure, quite rightly because our position isn't good enough and he is as he admits himself very lucky to still be in a job. Hopefully if he can get another couple of wins he can steady the ship and we can then build from that. I am praying that is the case. The alternative is too depressing to consider as it will mean another sacking, more millions down the pisser and our FFP situation becoming more and more critical. We need a win Saturday or at the very least a very positive draw off the back of a quality performance. Losing tomorrow isn't really an option in my view. Come on NJ you can do it. Kick him in the balls Nathan is that waterboy. Love that filum.

Radio Stoke have misquoted what Jones has said on the 5 minute mark, he refers more to McLeans effort to convert to a full back as admirable rather than him being a good full back.

When you reflect on that statement by Jones, any hope for the future just drifts away. Surely he should have said "Look! .......When you put aside on our poor transfer business over the summer and some howling individual mistakes combined with conceding too many soft goals, we've actually been pretty good defensively this year"
