Born Shrophsire, schooled in Eccleshall & Stafford. Lived in dirty Leeds for 35 years. Never lived in Stoke but I've supported them since 1970.
At the age of 4 he gave me an ultimatum: "Our local teams are Wolves, Shrewsbury & Stoke. All about the same distance from us. You need to pick one to support and I won't have you supporting anyone else, it wouldn't be right." "Who's got the best players, dad?" "Stanley Matthews was the best player ever and he played for Stoke. And we have the best keeper in the world in Banksie". "I'll support Stoke then, dad" "Good choice, I'll take you to watch them. That'll prepare you for a life of misery and suffering".

Nice. Lived in maidstone for 8 mths or so back in the 80s. Enjoyed the area...worked on constructing a large warehouse/freezer installation at Snodland for a whle. I'm only a couple of miles from Snodland, on the A228. Maidstone was often a weekend destination !

Should I be the first to say I've never lived in Stoke or even Stoke-on-Trent, but I live in Newcastle-under-Lyme? Probably not. That'd be pedantic. Seems reasonable to me. I'm from Clayton GD

Should I be the first to say I've never lived in Stoke or even Stoke-on-Trent, but I live in Newcastle-under-Lyme? Probably not. That'd be pedantic. Unless things have changed greatly since I was on Newcastle Council in the 70s it's not pedantic at all. You'd have to wash your mouth out if you said you came from Stoke. I was actually the Mayor of 'Castle in 74/75 ( at the age on 27, bizarre though that now seems to me all these years later). The High Constable, Arthur Ogden, often accompanied me to functions wearing his trilby hat. If we went 'out of the Borough' into Stoke ( which he regarded as akin to a foreign expedition) in the car on the way back, he always took his hat off at the exact point we crossed the boundary, visibly relaxed and said " we're back in the Borough now".

I'm the third Kentish Potter here. Born in London, grew up in Whitstable, East Kent. Inherited it from my Dad (who's from Stoke), but not been to the city proper since my Granny moved away from Trentham when I was a kid.
Incidentally, I'm pretty sure another guy in my year at school (with no Stoke-on-Trent connection at all) still follows us solely because of Delap's throw.

All of my three daughters, having been born in south Manchester, would be entitled to be Man U, Man C, Stockport or Altrincham fans, but aren't. The two who are football fans are both stokies. The trouble you pass on to your children ! One comes with me to every game, home and away. The other was mascot at Anfield on the night we drew when Tony Kelly nutmegged Grobellar. She now lives near Cardiff, and her son, my 9 year old grandson, despite being born in Wales, is a massive Stoke fan. His love of Stoke actually got a mention in his school report . He is going to be the mascot when we play there on 26 November and he can't wait

Spin off from my last thread....seems to be a lot Isn't "STOKE" a metaphorical state of mind? I was born STOKE although I only ever set my foot in the general vicinity of Stoke-On-Trent once in my life - to see STOKE play some arse nalholes. Come to think of it, I'm a better fan than most people who live there; after all, I've spent 100% of my time in Stoke going to see STOKE play. Who else can say that?

Born in deepest Somerset - brought up just South of Bristol and lived around here all my life (hence the Paul Randall profile). Dad from London and Mother from Bournemouth, so no Potteries connections there!! Aged 9 and watching TV (when we won the League Cup and at an impressionable age) I thought "I like the colour of those shirts..." and have been a Stoke supporter ever since, through thin and thinner. To think I might have been Southampton, Sunderland, Lincoln City...Athletico Madrid even!!! Funny thing about football loyalties though - if you're a proper fan, once you have a team there's no changing, even if you don't have a family history or geographic connection And God knows that loyalty has been tested over the years!!! Nah, you wouldn’t have been turned on by those clubs’ stripes - they look so crap with black shorts and red trimmed cuffs and collars. Our stripes stand out because the rest of the kit is white and, as such, we are unique. You should never regret the right choice. I particularly like the white back panel to a shirt (Dons tin hat!!) At the risk of opening the "what's your favourite shirt debate..." I loved the Umbro circa 1978 with the diamonds down the sleeve - Howard Kendall, Brendan O"Callaghan era - or the short lived Admiral of about 1975/76 (??) with the black V-neck collar but no Admiral nonsense on the sleeves, late Alan Hudson vintage

I don't like the white panel BTW! It was irony...or sarcasm....whatever!

Family all from Stoke, with my parents being the only ones who moved out of the area to Newport (Shropshire, not where the capped twat's from).
Dad was a lifelong Stoke fan (grew up around Longton) and mum grew up on Campbell Rd. a stone's throw from the Vic. Used to visit grandparents and uncles/aunt's etc surprisingly frequently....around about every other week which, by a complete stroke of luck (as far as my mum was concerned anyway) just so happened to coincide with home games! He started taking us when i was about 5 or 6. Twin brother ended up supporting the bindippers and older brother went the Spurs way. Traitorous bastards!

When I was 12ish my football coach supported stoke, he had 2 sons, but the older one lost interest so I used to go to watch the games after practice instead, after many months I decided I wanted to support stoke and since then I have always supported stoke. I am now 30

I can tell you something though. I used a large Co Op on the Isle of Wight a few weeks ago. Fuck me Expensive? Waitrose couldn't hold a candle to it.
I have to say though that the pork pies were as good as any that I have tasted. We went back for more ....

Never, and only spent a few overnights football related stays. Once in the hotel for the Macari's 90's night and once in the police reception area in 1979 after me and a mate missed our train back to Yorkshire after midweek game v Sunderland. We turned down an offer from some mackems, who had been nicked for a lift home! Also a couple of nights in Woore for a fans party. Nights stay in North Staffs hotel for family Alton towers trip too!

Mr & mrs watchermakulit, they always sit together, and just before half time he always gets up to go get a pie cus the queue is smaller so they can have some snapping, but of a ritual if you like, have heard he’s missed about 12 goals over the years, she ain’t missed one, but also understand she describes them that well he insists on getting pies, consequently have heard he gets mr a bit more fresh before they get warmed up in the microwaves😉
