The hallucinating keeper is a fantastic image.
The Matthews story is beyond belief (not the most convincing handshake on the photo) as is the Franklin one. The Magnan one is just sickening. Truly shows we are not an establishment club.
The decision to sack Hughes when they did (should have either been much earlier or at the end of the season) should be in there - it's defined this club for the next 5 years at least and has led to the loss of hundreds of millions.

Good article.
I imagine most clubs have a list of fuck ups, but ours must be one of the most impressive.
The Matthews one must be unique, my dad (R.I.P.) was at the sheffield game and was still moaning about the absurdity on his deathbed.

The signings of Imbula,Wimmer and Berahino must surely be up there and not sacking Mark Hughes sooner set our club back years in my opinion

I think not acting decisively after a spawny win at Watford will be the one that haunts us the longest.

I think the sad story of John Magnan shows just how poor our administration was back then, continued to be under Moxey, and seems not to be any better with Scholes. Has any other football club been so badly served by those paid to run it?

I've always believed that if we'd signed Osgood with Hudson, as we nearly did, we would have won the league.

For me one of the worst decisions was signing Imbula when we were crying out for a top striker which would have taken the club to the next step which would have been 7th or 8th and was the start of our demise 😢

Deciding not to sign Demba Ba. If memory serves me right he’d all but signed, there was even a photo of him in the stoke strip but something showed up in his medical ? After that he went to Newcastle and proceeded to bang in a shed load of goals.

Promising a major overhaul and then not overhauling anything, before splurging 50 million in exactly the same vein as the previous 2 years.

Worst decision ever was to sign Berrahino. Then the joint 14 worst decisions were his first 14 pay packets.

You can draw your own conclusions about that. The argument is always that the stand was not insured and that's not true.

You can draw your own conclusions about that. The argument is always that the stand was not insured and that's not true. The difference in the valuation of the repairs, between the insurance assessors and the contractor was massive. Who actually actually carried out the repairs? Does anyone know?

I’d also say moving away from the Vic, a bit of the club died that day.
