I assume this was a rhetorical question, but I’ll bite anyway. Hughes changed formation without having the players to the system. Square pegs in round holes, plus a succession of ineffective strikers such as Joselu and Jesé. It was aimed at the poster who called him a garbage striker as in our entire 10 years in the premier league nobody scored more than the 11 goals he did in a season. Ric and Arnie also managed 11 so that's not bad company for a "garbage striker" I think you and innocentbystander have won this exchange by a knockout. I have no idea what's happened to Diouf, or why, but I am convinced of one thing - that the idea that the Mame Diouf who played for us in the PL would not be worth a place in the squad of the team which is bottom of the Championship is not a sustainable proposition.

I used to like to see him in the team because he had genuine pace, sadly the last few appearances he made for us he seemed to have lost that pace. I think he's been a decent player for us to be honest and I'm not sure even now we have better options up front.

You’re one sad wanker if you give Diouf grief.
Limited but he’s been a very good servant to this club, even when he was hung out to dry at right back, we should release him so he can crack on with his career.

Can you explain then how he is still our joint highest scorer in a single premier league season which was actually the only season he played as just a striker!! Because he has class players around him, half the goals he scored he had no idea he had done it. Donkey Wow, just wow.

I noticed Diouf isn't at the official SCFC website at all. Jordan Cousins and CCV aren't pictured either. But Diouf not even mentioned. Does it mean he isn't even in the squad? No, just that the media team continue to be inept. No. He wasn't included in the squad for the season, so can't be selected. That simple www.stokecityfc.com/news/2019/august/2019-20-squad-numbers-confirmed/

I'm sure we would if diouf would agree to cancel his lucrative contract, or are you suggesting we just pay him up?

Let’s see how you’d react if your mum was trampled to death, take the money out of the equation for a second and think like oh I don’t know, an actual human being. By the looks of that response to a non-inflammatory post though I suspect that’s beyond your remit you sad wanker.

I'm sure we would if diouf would agree to cancel his lucrative contract, or are you suggesting we just pay him up? That would be the best for all concerned. Money is fine, he has a legal contract so he is entitled to be paid up. However, it would best for own mental health and self esteem if he was working instead of sitting on his back-side doing nothing. Believe me, I have been there and it’s no fun. There has to be a compromise here because he is a decent human being (contrast Berahino) who tried his best to do everything he was asked to do, in the face of terrible personal adversity. He worked his butt off for Stoke and gave us some great memories (two goals and an assist in our biggest PL win ever). Anyone who thinks otherwise is a heartless bastard, a moron or both. Rant over.

This was not a final list of players, as ther's no Carter-Vickers, Hogan or Duffy there. Do we have to have a list in the EFL as in the PL?

Garbage striker, never noticed he was not around, hope we aint paying him, robbed a living for years, one of the reasons we got relegated from the prem league Can you explain then how he is still our joint highest scorer in a single premier league season which was actually the only season he played as just a striker!! He didn’t even get the chance to play just as a striker, he was out on the right wing for a lot of that season and spent a while out at ACON.

Can’t help wishing Diouf was still in the team. He wasn’t the greatest striker ever but I’d take his brand of cow’s arse / banjo hitting right now over anything we currently do. Seemed a decent sort as well.
I hope he is ok. I can only wish him the very best and thank him for all he did. It was far better than some suggest.

For whatever reason hes barely played any football for 3 years and on the odd occasion he has played you can tell.
His primary assets of pace and endurance have now completely deserted him and I would say they are unlikely to reappear.
It's a shame. I liked diouf and he would always have been a more prolific scorer of goals than anyone who has been bought to replace him

Does Diouf still turn up & train at Clayton Wood these days, does anyone know? Despite his weekly earnings, being a footballer at a club & not getting any playing opportunity & not being anywhere near getting any must be in itself really frustrating & demoralising for the guy.
