Where is Mame Biram Diouf? Is it possible to see him on the bench soon?

I'd called for him to at least be on the subs bench for ages and when he was given a chance he was beyond woeful and he didnt look interested.
It's a big if, if he's still up to it. Maybe they've already made that judgement?
But there's still a nagging in the back of my head to think he should still be in that set up somewhere...

Diouf was a decent striker as long as he didn’t have to think. Hughes ruined his career by trying to converting him to a wing back in his ridiculous 3-5-2 formation. He gave 110%, he can defend reasonably well and will run up and down until he drops, but he is not a winger because he has the control of baby elephant.

I noticed Diouf isn't at the official SCFC website at all. Jordan Cousins and CCV aren't pictured either.
But Diouf not even mentioned. Does it mean he isn't even in the squad?

I appreciate your reasons for explaining his lack of basic footballing skills ( I don't agree with them). I honestly think that he never has had any real skills. His personal tragedy didn't help anything. Could it be that he has just lost the heart to compete?
It is a shame, he was a big hearted guy that gave everything.

He’s a nice guy by all accounts and did work his knackers off for Stoke when given a run of games, but he’s just got no ability at all and his decision making was proper retarded.

Even last season when starting a game he scored (Hull), but I think it was decided to be an own goal, but he was the one to shoot. I actually think Diouf given the the opportunity to play as our main striker would have been our top scorer last season and this season. Unfortunately you take all the confidence out of a player when you're treated like Diouf has been for the last two seasons.

I agree that his personal issues confounded the problem. What he lack in skill he made up for with effort and big heart. Once he lost his confidence and asked to play out of position he was a shadow his former self. I think he was top scorer or close to it for several seasons.

Garbage striker, never noticed he was not around, hope we aint paying him, robbed a living for years, one of the reasons we got relegated from the prem league Can you explain then how he is still our joint highest scorer in a single premier league season which was actually the only season he played as just a striker!!

I assume this was a rhetorical question, but I’ll bite anyway. Hughes changed formation without having the players to the system. Square pegs in round holes, plus a succession of ineffective strikers such as Joselu and Jesé.

He did, but really was in an offside position. It was of course given to Bojan instead.

Square pegs in round holes, plus a succession of ineffective strikers such as Joselu and Jesé. It was aimed at the poster who called him a garbage striker as in our entire 10 years in the premier league nobody scored more than the 11 goals he did in a season. Ric and Arnie also managed 11 so that's not bad company for a "garbage striker"

TThis must be the umpteenth thread concerning Mame who in his best season as a striker scored a dozen goals and as many near misses which with a bit of luck would have made him a 20 goal Premiership striker and always gave us 100% even when played as full-back or winger. The fact that he hasn't appeared in any of the squads, "death squad", "train with the boys" "find yourself a club" suggests there is a another reason and as Clem touched on earlier he may just be fed up of it all (following his personal tragedy) or he may be suffering from PTSD or clinical depression. I think instead of criticising his (sometimes) inept performances (and forgetting the, more frequent good ones)we should give him the benefit of doubt and wish him well. Thanks Mame.

But after the last 3 years of shite its looks a belting and skillful goal on replay. I can't remember when we last saw a striker run at someone like that.

Right up until he actually hit the shot, it was excellent play. The shot was badly hit and Hart should have stopped it easily. He didn’t, thank goodness, but, as they say, one swallow doesn’t make a summer. Mame should, and could, have got 20 goals a season, but he just wasn’t/isn’t good enough.

I agree Diouf wasn't good enough, but he was better than some we have had up front in recent years.
His shooting was very erratic to put it kindly, his first touch was terrible, and I don't remember him ever taking on and beating a man, but he could head a ball, which seems a dying art these days.
One quality Diouf had which cannot be taught, is a natural poacher instinct. He was often in the right place at the right time to get a chance to score, unfortunately he usually missed.

It's a sign of our downfall beginning was when Hughes had the bright idea not to buy a right back and try to convert a forward into one
Hmmm.....that sounds familiar
